Please. Don't start changing your story now, that was but one of many arguments you put forward at the time. I know, I remember, because I agreed with several of them.
And that's it. Stop right there. There's always room for improvement, so improve. Don't compare, don't make excuses. Listen to your customers and consider implementing some of their suggestions especially if they are easy to do and cost you next to nothing. |
yeah..but where i object is when the customers consider it their right and when it becomes a matter of law or liability to do so.
Clubs could give away everything if they want to... i dont care... just dont expect it.
So many people want clubs to have low prices, low capacity, high end djs, special treatment, etc etc all at the same time. The theme time and time again is that clubs are charities and that a good time is a right not a privelege.
Again, im not saying clubs should or shouldnt give out free anything.

Dear Mr. Club Owner,
A happy hour wouldn't hurt either; it is somewhat hard to justify paying $25 for $5 worth of alcohol at the beginning of the night. |
happy hours are illegal... u can thank dalton for that!

Dear Mr. Club Owner,
Please do not advertise or offer "line bypass" when there in-fact is none that night, or it's highly disorganized and inconsistent.
Also, please offer a REAL line bypass when it is being advertised at your club, otherwise don't advertise it if you can't offer it.

welcome to canada... where its always someone else's fault! |
More specifically, welcome to Toronto, the land of litigation. Litigation nation. We are well on our way of having litigation be as common here as it is in the US.

Now u are talking... clubs arent charities! |
Clubs are also not corporations, where only the bottom line matters, and nothing else.
I would assume that club owners open a club in the first place because they have some sort of interest, however small, in music or just in having a good time.
Furthermore, if Toronto clubs want to have ANY sort of reputation and recognition on a world scale, every little thing counts, and something as small as offering ear plugs would be a start.
Just to be clear I said *offering*, as in simply have them available *if* someone wants them, or at the absolute least sell them for $.50 or $1. Simply offering plugs to those that ask would be absolutely nothing cost-wise to a club, because many people would not ask for them in the first place.
If club owners have zero interest in having their clubs be highly regarded in Toronto, let alone on a world scale, then hey, they can just keep doing what they are doing and continue to close down/lose money/lose customers like many clubs in the downtown club district continue to.

the difference here is that clubs arent MANDATED to charge for earplugs as opposed to the bag law where they are forced to charge. If grocery stores want to charge a nickle for a bag then so be it... but im against that being a LAW. Big difference.
While there is always room for improvement. I think a lot of clubs in toronto are already world class and already go over the top for customers. ESPECIALLY based on the average price points for cover and drinks. We are a pretty economical city to party in considering what we get here! |
You're not being serious with that statement, are you?
Please explicitly define "economical" in this context.

You get to see some of these DJs in nice small intimate venues where at times you are only feet from the DJ and interact with them for the aformentioned price rather in some gigantic stadium or oversized club much much more and often so far away from them you can't even be sure that it is them. |
Likewise, we see DJs here for $40 or more that can be seen in other parts of the world for less. That's not even getting into the argument that we see the same names here, always, and have a lot less variety than top club cities in the world.
Also, when it comes to big events, in Toronto that usually means a cramped club where you pay over $50 in many cases to see different DJs in different rooms, and many times it's so crowded it takes forever to move around from one room to another.
When it comes to huge events in Toronto (which happen rarely), you pay over $50 to see someone like Tiesto in a place like Arrow Hall with very little in terms of extravagant stage setup, lighting, pyro, effects, or general atmosphere.
I would much rather pay $50-75 to be at a world-class "stadium" event overseas than to pay that much to see someone like Tiesto here.
In many European countries, you will find a lot of big DJs playing at small clubs, especially when the DJs are in their home country.
