It's been 5 days so far, and even easier than last time, woo! I guess it helps that I've quit before, and when I started again was just an occasional smoker.

No cravings really. The real test, as always, will be when I drink...but I think I'll be fine.

Anybody else quit or thinking about quitting? Let this thread continue as a roll call/support thread.

This is gonna be a fucking classic.

Good going, Jenny. One of my colleagues quit about 6 months ago. His health insurance covers the cost of nicotine patches and filters as long as he attends a quit smoking seminar and a nic-annonymous meeting once a week. He said he smoked a pack or two a day for 25 years.

He agrees that its the toughest addiction to quit but smoking again just plain and simply isn't an option for him. Sounds like you're on the same page.

He said to tell you to get the nicotine lozenges (?? like cough drops), too, which reduces urge after sex and meals.

Yeah, but I'm not addicted to nicotine and never was, fortunately. Smoking was always something I did out of boredom...mostly for the social aspect. But I mean, I got along fine in that regard for years before I smoked. So it should be no big deal.

I'm finally done with cigarretes , I just decided to quit , its been 2 weeks now and i dont have the urge to put smoke into my lungs.

I have the stupid idea that If I quit, life will be grant me a wish . It's stupid because it doesnt make any sense but it sure helps to trick my mind and body

same here , also i always thought that it would give me some sort of energy when i was about to hit the books for exams , when in reality it would make me drowsy and even sometimes give me some sort of headache

saw some lady in scrubs buying a couple packs yesterday. it just seemed so bizarre.

she was also fat and had shitty posture. remember, jenny--that's what happens when medical professionals smoke.

I have an overwhelmingly hard time taking medical professionals who smoke/are obese seriously. I mean, you spent years of your life dedicating yourself to learning about maintaining a healthy body, and you have made a living out of telling other people what to do in order to stay healthy. Yet, you go out and get fat and smoke? If YOU, the person who is supposed to be my health adviser, can't even take your own advice and stay healthy, how the hell am I supposed to? Seems both ironic and hypocritical.

i smoke about 10 cigs a day.. im sure some of you health buffs and wholesome americans will find fault with that.. but fuck it.. its only 10 cigs a day.. the average smoker is on like 20 a day. and i know its a smokers cliché to say this.. but any one of us could die tomorrow, so why get mowed over by a car whilst being stressed out to fuck cos you havnt had a cig in 4 days/ might as well just carry on regardless so long as your not caning the hell out of it

Don't try to quit because it's unhealty or smoking costs a few bucks.
Quitting based on this won't work. Don't expect shitty patches and gum to do the work.

If you really want to and are mentally strong you can.

I smoked for 13 years, above average, always said to myself when I want to stop I'll do it in one attempt. It's now 2 years and 3 months ago. I even didn't knew my last cigarette was the last one.

Funny now is:

- I hate it when people smoke in my car and home.
- Never knew clothes could smell this bad after a party.
- When you have a smoking partner, making out tastes damn nasty.

Ow and one "small" thing even after this long not smoking there are occasions every 2 months or so that I just could light up a cig. These 1 will do no harm moments. This is when you need the mental strong thing. And I do believe this urge/need will always be there teasing you like the Joker.
