Lets not forget that we are all on the same side here.

Ya know, I never knew how much it mattered where music came from. That was one aspect that I hope most can appreciate and understand: music should be universal and international with no boundaries of any kind. We have enough problems with overzealous nationalists as it is, the last place music should reside is in their hands. It's sad such patriotic boundaries still exist like that.

Music should be for everyone, no matter where it originates. I personally love some of the music coming out of America. After all, a big portion of international electronica did originate from Detroit. Too bad American's didn't see what was coming. We could have kept a better hold of it and ran with it a little better, but it simply didn't catch on here. So it went elsewhere and caught on. Fine by me. Conversely, I can't get enough of the European music either. After all, this is where most of trance resides, as well as most of the incredible music festivals (except Miami's Winter Music Conference - most Europeans tend to forget we do host this sucker). As long as there are record stores, internet streaming and music downloads available, I could care less where it comes from. Music should never have a national flag attached to it. It should simply make you move and smile......

i could sterotype just like you by saying "well, he is ovbiously french because of his rudeness and lack of reserve" but i don't, because most intelligent people don't stereotype others...and secondly, if people start to flame war, it is because of people like you who make ridiculous comments that offends people.

don't make generalizations about americans and then put down people to be "assimilated" with them on top of it and not expect some americans to get offended...just a suggestion

Mhh, okay, Bluejay, i didn't express myself correctly, sorry
The first part of my post ("first you degrade fantom by calling him a "stereotypical arrogant american" knowing he is canadian and even go on top of that by saying "not cool for you to be assimilated as an american, uh") was a a reaction from me because i was upset by what Fantom said. Which isn't smart, i admit.
But, to me, Fantom sounded like what people who don't like Americans generaly say, that is, being arrogant and everything. My post was sarcastic, I wanted to express the fact that what he wrote was stupid, that's why i wrote "you COULD (in this case) be assimilated as what people who don't like the Americans generally say about them being arrogant".
Hence, on a more sarcastic note, the "not cool for you to be assimilated as an american, uh" part.

Wether my angered reaction was stupid or not, I don't think you understood the way i feel, probably because i didn't express myself correctly, because i'm 100% AGAINST generalizations of any kind, if you look at my posts, you may notice that i'm always against people who keep bashing the Americans, so please don't think that I might have offended some, that really wasn't my point..on the contrary.

On a last note, although i didn't initiate a flame war, I admit I contributed to it somehow, by replying something harsh to somone who said something harsh...I guess in those cases, nobody should answer those people...

I have seen tons of American movies with a killer electronic soundtrack.

Blade for example.

You can`t just say that Americans can`t produce trance just because of a few bad tracks. How many retarded trance tracks originates from Europe? I whole bunch i would guess.

Also... It`s kinda funny. A great deal of the technology that is used for music-production, is, infact American. Computer Software, Hardware etc...

I find American DJs very boring...Sandra Collins, Christopher Lawrence, Kimball Collins...wanted to pull my hair out when I saw them.

George Acosta is a little too cheesy for my liking. But I really like this song by him called "Reeper."

I think I would have a better opinion of American trance if it wasn't so "rainbow candy etard raver" ridden like it is over here in the states. Kinda makes me wanna puke. I wanna see big ass elaborate shows like they have over in Europe. Too bad it will never catch on over here. I prefer seeing a DJ at a club rather than some barnyard venue with no A/C and a row of porta-potties in the back.

hhhhhhhmmmm......come on all American TAs lets bow down to Europe for having the ONLY good trance/tech Djs in the world...

Who realy gives a shit.....i mean there are good and bad DJs from EVERY country....i can name MANY shitty cheesey DJs from Germany, Holland, England, Switzerland, America, etc etc...

whats the difference...and besides TRANCE, and ALL music for that matter, is like beauty...it's in the eye of the beholder..well i guess that would be the ear actually...but u get my drift...not everyone will like the same stuff...

I personally find PVD really boring...but Starfox finds him to be brilliant...so its a matter of taste...like who you like and let others do the same...

wow i actually didnt start a flame war in a America thread...LOL....but things can change fast...

Well, C-naptik, sorry for upseting you or anybody else, but that's just my opinion (you don't like it, too bad).

And no, I am not Canadian either (but I am stuck here for a while)... I come from Europe and I've seen plenty of shit over there and over here, and that's what I base my opinions on... again, you don't like what I say, just too bad, so sad.

And yes, there is plenty of cheese coming from Europe too (I gotta give you that one guys!)

Well I've seen one American Trance DJ so far and that was Sandra Collins at GCSSS 2001, I thought she was brilliant, she played a good set, pity she was on early.

You got to admit it people, you haven't really got a too bad scene in the USA, never been clubbing there, but it seems to get some good DJs visit there. I think it will probably get slightly bigger in the future in some of the cities, but not really massive like it is here, for the fact a lot of people are brainwashed by MTV , but on the otherhand thats good because you don't want everyone listening to trance in the USA, it would get pretty boring if we all listened to the same stuff.

I think US trance will get bigger, however from reports from British DJs in Ministry mag they claim your crowds prefer more darker proggy sets, I dunno really if thats true and if it is that means the more proggy djs visit the states more.

your DJs and producers need to tour overseas a bit more aswell, Sandra Collins, and Christopher Lawerence play in the UK a bit they probably play 6 or 8 nights here each which isn't bad at all, but others like BT hasn't visited here that much about 4 from what I've recalled from flyers and so on in the space of about 3 or 4 years too. D Fuse has done a couple of events here and stuff, George Acosta I don't think I've seen him on a lineup for anywhere here yet, we don' really see much of your trance djs as their probably busy in the states here though your Prog and House Djs are here week in week out.

I don't know about other parts of the US, but in my local scene there was a huge "backlash" for trance and now everyone is all about Drum and Bass / Happy Hardcore like thats all good and all but I want to hear some trance Anthems at an Event !!!!!

Liek it seems that if you spin trance here that you dont get the respect, like just by looking at the flyers you can see that, 3/4 of ther dj's are DnB and Happy hardcore, and if there is a Dj doin trance he is always really early in the night

I don't know america need a lesson in Trance and I am trying but one person is definately not enough

pls America support Trance Music at your local events !!!!!!

Fine,

Where does Josh spin?

Do you have a single liveset from him?

I doubt it.

Just like James Holden, i'm talking about a DJ, not a producer, and it seems like Josh is only producing right now.

Hell, has he even made a mix disc yet?

I don't count chickens before they're hatched.
