I dunno, he has a point with house music based on samples.. but then he rants off about how the stuff he stole and sampled is his intellectual property and he needs to keep it a secret because its his set of illegally downloaded mp3s lol.

I mean for one of his tracks he basically just sampled the first 5 minutes of transformers the movie and added an already sampled drum loop. He messaged me about it when i called him out on it before.

My only quarrel is that he should portray some humility and give credit to the original artists. A pompus attitude should never be portrayed by an artist period, let alone one who simply creates synergies of other peoples work.

and FYI, Arthur bakers planet rock is also a collaboration of 2 kraftwerk tracks. Trans Europe express and Numbers.

Even baker paid his dues. There is no secret here. If you respect the music, you will give credit where its warranted. Otherwise you're simply "a thief in the night". (try sampling that transformers episode) lol.

See, this is why you have no fucking credibility. You rip off other artists left and right, claim their work as your own, try to use it to sell your little producer band camp service, and then rant and rave about how you've got an army of lawyers standing by to protect your privacy (newsflash: you have been banned, you are not welcome here, that means you are trespassing and that is technically a tort) and your intellectual property (which was never yours to begin with).

Get a clue dude.

Oh, I get it, you mean we should keep listening to the show every night now, long after the gong show has ended, and call in at random times to chat about this. Yeah, that's not a transparent attempt at pimping the show at all.

digi has a point there. The interview should have been open to discussion. ***** is currently mailing me constantly, urging me not to give away his "secrets" and to respect his "library of music" which he worked hard to find and download.

I think the main issue here is that he is aggressively sampling large portions and claiming it as "his" intellectual property.

My whole issue with this is giving the original artist credit. Thats my only beef.

As was mine. Sampling large portions of existing tracks is a common occurrence, even today, but when it's done, it's called either a [bootleg] remix or a mash-up. Without attribution, it's simply plagiarism.

For sure man. My annoyance w this and the reason why people here are so pissed w the whole thing is what you just mentioned AND how he thinks what he's doing is somehow groundbreaking (and he's one of the first to have started doing it) Yeah right.

He was on the phone for a long time but not the whole time, so you still could have. And why not take advantage of a marketing oppurtunity? My show was the source of everything, people are obviously still interested, so why not address it again on my show. I'm just a little tired of people who are doing this comfortably behind their keyboards. I'd rather have people talk about this over the phone at least which I consider a little less than hiding. It's going to be public anyway, why not have it on the station? The gong show is still going on as you can see.

He's just saying along w other peoples constructive criticism that you take more control over that kind of interview...Nick just kept rambling on and on. I would've tuned in to the entire thing but I only lasted for a few min. If you flat out put Nick on the spot (like Digi's suggesting) then it would've been a lot better.
