no, the truth is that it only fucking sucks if you convince yourself that it's horrible.
True that I guess it's a two-way road. But IMO convincing yourself it's great when it's not great is only an escape for your mind, but not necessarily an escape for the problem itself. Emotion focused coping mechanisms only go so far. Moreover venting is a good way to expel stress.

Well that's the problem - things are NEVER ACTUALLY bad, they are only bad as seen through temporary human judgment. What is one's personal injury to the universe? What is the loss of a job? Can you really say that the destruction of the earth would even be 'bad' in the context of a universe with potentially billions of inhabitable planets? Is life itself even a virtue, or a simple property of matter that causes it to be able to look back at itself?
Things only ever happen - never for better, and never for worse.
I never said to convince yourself that things are great, but just to realize they aren't horrible. It's classic 'detachment'.

If you decide that death to humans you love isn't horrible and detach yourself, then you're on your way to becoming a psychopath, ...or maybe just a mortician.
Yes good vs bad is a human construction. But assigning "good" to human survival encourages humans to keep each other alive in order to keep the species alive in general. In nature everything is created and eventually destroyed. Our goal is to stay in existence as long as we can.
It goes straight to hell man. Straight to hell. Shackles and chains in the train with Kurt Cobain on the PA.
