Granted a singularity can never truly be reached , but rather approached . However, it is a valid term and we can get so close to it that the difference is hardly recognizable.

If you said an exponential curve does not have a singularity - I would say fair enough. But you said it "does not have a singularity at all" which I would argue because it gets so close to that point that its almost the same.

I made the mistake of engaging in a conversation about the state of the world right now with one of my patients who is a Jehova's Witness. Really nice, sweet man - but JWs really don't understand how to walk away when people don't want to be preached at. He even wrote me out a list of recommended scriptures to read that talk about how God said all this would happen - basically warning me, and encouraging me to accept the word of the lord so that I could be saved.

I see a lot of interesting people. I didn't really mind most of the conversation and was quite happy to listen to him. But it was the constant pushing of "OMG JOIN US" I didn't like. In any other situation I would have told that guy to lay off - but in a nurse/patient relationship it's different. It was obviously important to his well being, so I just sorta nodded and smiled.

I typically just lie to them.

"Of COURSE I've heard the good word of Christ! I've read the Book of Mormon front-to-back! What's my favourite part? Well, all of it! You can't ask me to pick favourites here. Hey, give me your contact information for if I have any questions. You mean you don't have a business card? Well, I know where to find you. Have a good day and keep helping people out!"

These two Mormon girls once showed up at my door to share with me the good word. I told them that my neighbour up above needed serious help and that they should go pry him for admonishment. Nyerk, nyerk, nyerk.
