No new taxes in the past 3 years? Really? LOL! I'll forgive the class warfare rhetoric because I know you don't know any better or any different. If companies are not hiring now, and you think levying additional taxes and regulations will spur them in the direction of growth, you're beyond help. Companies are not hiring because the climate of fear and uncertainty this inexperienced administration has put on businesses. It's as simple as that. They have no idea what's coming down the pike next week, next month, next year, etc. so they feel it's better to sit on the sidelines till the storm passes. |
Regulation of the markets are exactly what's needed. Not necessarily to take down the deficit, but to ensure that another recession does not happen. Already the TBTF banks are up to their old games bringing back sub-prime mortgages. I don't know how you can honestly believe that deregulation of the financial markets will create more jobs when recent history has shown that unchecked greed and corruption only ends up putting the entire system in jeopardy.
I don't care if you do think I'm some little peon who doesn't know any better, the rich should pay their fair share. I don't think I need to remind you of the article that came out a few months ago where GE paid NOTHING in taxes for fiscal year 2010. If they don't then the deficit will never be fixed. Even if you don't tax them, they won't be creating any new jobs anyways for exactly what you just said, so fuck it, tax the shit out of them. Spending cuts alone isn't going to fix this economy. Look what's already happening to the FAA:

| quote: | Almost 4,000 Federal Aviation Administration workers are facing furloughs after Congress adjourned Friday without passing a measure to reauthorize the agency's funding, according to the Transportation Department.
A $2.5 billion program providing grants for airport construction projects also will shut down, and thousands of construction jobs could be jeopardized.
In a news release, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said he was disappointed that lawmakers did not pass a reauthorization and that funding was set to run out at midnight Friday. "Because of their inaction, states and airports won't be able to work on their construction projects, and too many people will have to go without a paycheck," he said. "This is no way to run the best aviation system in the world."
The release goes on to say, "The safety of the flying public will not be compromised."
Air traffic controllers will remain on the job, but the furloughs will affect many FAA engineers, scientists, computer specialists, community planners and others. According to the Department of Transportation, FAA workers could be furloughed in 35 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. |
Your Republican masters promised to create jobs in 2010. So far, all they've been doing is the exact opposite.
