Yeah I know that I've made some comments that are potentially divisive, but if people are so quick to take me for an idiot just because they don't see things the same way as me, they deserve to have their own idiocy exposed. |
You may not have necessarily deserved such a hastily contemptuous response but you've failed to understand that the people you're dismissing, as a result of that response, have legitimate reasons behind it. You're neither the first to do so nor have you even made the best proposal for fixing the industry.
You are, in fact, at the end of a long line of people to post complaints about what are essentially its mainstream ambitions. It's an easy thing to be upset with if that's the only thing you see. Fortunately, Beatport, Mixmag, and AM Only aren't the only purveyors of EDM. They may hold a record level of influence but focusing on that very narrow window of dysfunction is, itself, myopic. You do so to the exclusion of a larger portion that isn't dysfunctional and likely has what you're looking for. Why try to change something that is constructed to resist change when what you're trying to change it to, already exists; and in enough abundance to negate the reasons for your cause to begin with?

Interesting point re the vote for the worst one. Although I suspect she was still a far better singer than Paris is a DJ, and therefore the risk of this turning into a Frankenstein's monster seems negligible. |
Not really my point. The point is that nothing significant really happened. Howard Stern has always been related to mainstream media conglomerations and is hardly anyone who is qualified over anyone else to judge good taste. He was just doing what he did to get attention.
