But it does use iTunes

I was referring to old releases (2001). But yeah, you are right, they are still selling the product so no problem at all.

160gb is enough, it's as big as they come. I'm still undecided about which way to go here.

it comes down to workflow. THe problem with the size you have is that you need a way to organize it. Itunes does that. As much as you hate it. You can't or won't be using 160gigs of music without some wway to organize it.

not sure what other systems use. Itunes is ok as long as you make sure all your music is properly tagged. It also works better on mac obviously.

I've used both , an ipod and one that you could drag. The one you just drag was fine for things you want to listen to now. But the more music you get, the more you start to appreciate Itunes' organization.

Just make sure you adjust itunes settings before you start organizing your music or it will fuck shit up.

But with all the apps you can get for your ipod, it is clearly something that is just far superior than anything else. Any format. Stream from your main computer. Share libraries. There is a way to do everything.

That's less difficult than it seems.

I share Jack's apparent arsedlessness to organise all my audio files (unsurprisingly, music is just a small fraction of what I have), so I use mass tagging programs to sort everything out. They work pretty well, and I'd probably keep using them even if I had to switch to a different music player.

I use Sharepod on my old iPod. It works well enough for me, removing the need to import my files into that retarded iTunes library before loading them onto the iPod itself, although I haven't attempted to "Drag'n'Drop" using it. I understand if you're moving your music around constantly, just how annoying iTunes can be, since the library quickly becomes outdated, filled with 'error' tags on all your music that you need to manually delete and replace with the file from its new location.

Anyway, it allows me to use my iPod as a USB storage device (for music at least, I haven't attempted to load my iPod with any other type of file) that will play music.

On my existing MP3 player I can just paste in folders containing albums or compilations or whatever, and it automatically comes up on the player's alphabetical lists. Easiest thing in the world. As long as you've named your folders right, you know what everything is.

Thing i hate about Itunes?

When i first got my Ipod 30 gig, i took my fucking time renaming my tracks, since the music i purchased contained WAY too many "_" and "-" and the dots. The fucking dots for fuck sakes. I want my shit sorted alphabetically by artist first then "-" then track name (Remixers name).

I've wasted hours on that redundancy thus, this may be the reason why i have no desire to change the battery on my Ipod. Too much of a hassle.

By the way, i'm enjoying my galaxy S2 Note. Derp derp.

with 160 gigs of music, you are going to need more than folders to make your music accessible using at least the genre and year tags. FOlders work if you have the foresight to arrange them in a way that doesn't amount to say nested folders with hundreds of other folders. I can understand not wanting to use itunes. But ya, something to keep in mind i guess.
