I just think he is way overrated... most DJs can pull off a couple good nights and have great sets.. but he is definately not a DJ who is great everytime you hear him.. he is hot and cold.
sorry if you dont like my opinion Tiesto lovers.. I used to really like him and then really listened to his mixes and became less and less impressed. Personally I think if you are a major fan of Tiesto's mixes then you are probably not a DJ and dont have the ear to actually hear and identify a quality mix.
Hmm, I've been a Tiesto fan ever since Magik 1 came out in 1997. THREE YEARS before Silence came out. Silence just brought him DJ superstardom to the mainstream.
No other dj has the power of narrative and melodic blending as creatively as Tiesto does. Innercity & ENERGY 2000 ___track placement was just pure genius and they are both pre>silence
I recognize that his mixing technique is not the best as far as beatmatching goes< but his flow is unmatched and definitely not overrated>
Not only am I dj< i"m also a classically trained musician with over ten years of studying theory and harmony to back up what i"m saying> Jump on the Tiesto hating bandwagon< that"s the mainstream thing to do

ATB is a horrible dj, horrible producer and all around tool. His sets are filled with trash and supposed real trance tracks which are really just eurotrash danced up.

Delerium gets the credit from me, I dont listen to tiesto, but I do like a couple of Delerium albums, especially Semantic Spaces & the song Silence...
Oh yeah, and DJ Alligator sucks... blow my whistle LOL, stupid song title rivals those old stupid Prodigy tracks back in the day.

k man like what r u talkin about, hardest heart rocks it, they play everywere...all the biggies, love parade...(nuf said) Wicked tracks....not boring crap. Some of the only ones left that dont get themselves into prog or any of that shit during a set. Like doent be so harsh. Mixing...yea alil different, but clean and crisp.....check piet's sets they r wickkked.

ATB was interviewed in our local alternative newsweekly in my town... They like his melodic techno as they termed it. I only wish Paul Van Dyk would get that kind of credit, since he actually plays good melodic techno Well I know he aint techno, but thats what the newsweekly said

Well all you did was confirm what I said.. I said he gained all of his fame (superstar status) from his Silence release. I didn't say he wasn't around or that ppl didn't follow him before that at all.
As you stated yourself... his beat matching technique is not the best.. THAT is exactly what I am saying.. is that not part of being a great superstar DJ? Personally Flow is a good part of it.. but you also have to back that up with beat matching. I stated in the beginning his In Search of Sunrise 3 cd is amazing. I am simply saying that Live he is overratted.
I am not on a mainstream hate bandwagon by any means... Tiesto has some great tracks that he has remixed, produced, and track selection in his sets is generally very good.
All I did was voice my opinion and you basically just backed up exactly what I was trying to say. I am sorry you are a major fan and obviously took offense to what I said... but give me a break I am enititled to my opinion just as much as you are.. Relax
peace

The beatmatching isn't his problem, the transitions between the tracks are! He just can't fuckin count! The tunes he picks are great most of the time though.

Fine, but mentioning his name in the 'worst dj in the world' thread is way off base. That was my only concern here. Peace.

WORST DJ = Scott Bond (loooooooooooser)
MOST OVERRATED = Dave Pearce (picks up the mainstream trax then sticks'em in his euphorias, and sells it for a high price [higher than GU prices!!!])
I DISAGREE = Judge Jules is AWESOME! TIESTO is so!
I ADREE = ATB didn't make it as a dj, he made it producing. he's good in chillout music.. and he deserves respect for that.
