It does. You can label DJ Sammy as Epic House, Lasgo as epic trance, Vengaboys as happy house (which I need to add)...

Some of you may argue Lasgo is not epic trance. Well, you still have a massive amount of detuned saw-waves (in the case of Lasgo and Epic Trance, for example), female vocals (which is facultative), build-ups... characteristics that, epic trance shares with good old eurodance (and other similar genres)... keep in mind that progressive trance was responsible, like I said in another thread, for the houseification of trance, reason why epic trance can sound so similar to old eurodance at times.

This is actually a good think, because eurodance was fun. The quality of the recent "cheese" is a shame, though

hmm.. surely Trance is a genre of its own, and not a sub genre of 'Progressive' or 'Acid Trance'?

although the first post is very old, the guy worked a whole bunch on this map. Show the man alittle respect ffs make contructive comments instead of just bashing the whole idea. You could make it all alittle "wider" between the genres, so it doesn`t get so messy, other than that, good map!

Hint: Check Ishkur's guide (its link was posted several times in both threads, or you can visit the actual website for more tunes )

Yes, trance is a genre of its own: the "red" line represents it and its sub-genres

I've got to add this explanation somewhere in the map, I know

hehe, thanks

It will actually be wider, as I realised I've got no room for updates anymore Probably it may even be chopped into smaller bits, if really needed (althouhg I'd rather keep it just as one piece).

Sorry for the re-bump, but I didn't want anyone's question to be left un-answered

Because uplifting is a subjective definition (a tune can be uplifting to one person but depressing to someone else). The "uplifting tunes" you're talking about will be under epic and anthem trance

There is no such thing as "buttrock". It's just Goa / Psy trance with guitars. And are you absolutely sure that psy trance is a subgenre of Goa? Last time I checked people were arguing whether they were two different genres or just the same thing...

And where on that map would you put swedish tribal techno?

This "buttrock" thing, as far as I've experienced/read/been told, is nothing but a way to describe what we would call booty ballad rock. You can read explanations and definitions on this genre when you google it. However, for some reason, I often see this word being used for unusual rock (like rock'n'roll being played with shamisens and stuff of this sort). In this context, it fits the description of the map. I may, depending on my researches, change its name to metal goa: but I really wouldn't like to drop it from the guide.

As for swedish techno, because of the way techno's been evolving in the last years, it's become a regional thing more than other genres (you get swedish techno, german techno, italo-techno, j-tech... all genres with subtle differences between one another), reason why I'm gonna add a "regional techno" and explain the most important ones (unless I find a more accurate way of sorting the genres).
