and the drama even created on these boards in a few threads where bitching was happening about promoters sending out mass text messages promoting parties to ppl who had to pay for incoming messages!

there was a scandle bc some ppl were pissed about these spam messages costing them money! oh, those were the good ole days of TA lol

From what I've read, its only Telus so far...but the others might be following...


The new charges that is a bummer, is starting July 15th it'll cost $0.25 to send an SMS to the US. Currently, it counted towards your text message plan, but if you're on rogers, it'll cost you to sent it even if you have a plan.

Telus is starting that charge in AUgust i believe.

I guess we can't afford to text Barb once she's gone! lol

it wasn't even that long ago .. I also remember when txt messaging was completely FREE on Fido both to send and receive. I used to be able to login to ICQ via. SMS and send and receive without remorse

I just had a bell plan with free incoming and free outgoing txt. I wonder how it will affect those type of plans.

I have the same thing too with Fido .. and I wonder how it'll be affected when Rogers joins the oligopoly party to levy the same charges

I've really got used to unlimited incoming text messages. I have gmail and google calendar text my phone with every email, and meeting. Its so handy for somebody without a blackberry.

I guess that is what they saw, and want you to sign up for an 'email enabled phone' and $15 unlimited email.


All these moves, killing off incoming txt, unlimited internet, is just because the big boys saw people figuring out free ways around their over priced services. So what they are doing is stopping these free routes, and monetizing each and every data transfer. Just crazy.

There is no reason anybody should have to pay for TV, internet, and telephone for their house three times, on three different lines. It should just be one line, an internet connection, which will handle internet, IPTV, and VOIP.

What they are doing is making you think every time you want contact another human being: 'this smiley face will cost me $0.15' or 'this fight will cost me $20 in air time'.

Emails to phone:
I am with vigin, so you can receieve emails to your phone. Basically the email addy is: [email protected]. List of phone and corresponding email addresses.

So go into settings in gmail, and to forwarding. pop in your phone's email addy, and off you go!


Calendar to phone:
Just go to settings, and mobile set up. Enter your carrier and number, and you will get a confirmation code. After that you are all set!

You can have it send you a text with each appointment at the beginning of the day, or a certain amount of time before each meeting (I have it set to 1 hour before each). Also you can get it to send a daily itinerary when ever you choose.
