Yeah unfortunately, the E26 is really hard to find parts for. Especially in the US. And although I think it is a great car, I am not a fan of the styling. To each their own though.

Yes guy! They are the best touring car racer ever, followed a close second by the badass Ford Sierra RS500

Nice! E30 BMW's make awesome low-cost track cars and beater racers. Parts are plentiful and relatively interchangeable between the various spec's of E30 flavours.

Sadly the car has somewhat of a bad reputation around here. Because it was cheap to buy and cheap to run it was bought by wannabe street racers who wanted a step up from their civic. Needles tos ay after years of such abuse by idiots its wery hard to find a decent one for sale, and if you do, because of the high demand for them they can cost up to about 10.000EUR which is just insane

Sadly those people have grown upa bit now, but they still abuse their cars, which is a disaster since most have moved one to another of my favs, the e38

See here it was the opposite with the E34! And yes I love that one too. I really have an affinity for older BMWs. Really love their design.

Im always searching for a wine with a decent price/condition ratio, sadly havent found one yet. Like i mentioned before, either they are from the first owner and thus ridiculously expensive (also the v8 models were very rare around here, 520i and 525i were the most common) or they are so banged up that i could almost buy an e60 545i for the price it would take me to put the old one back into working order...such a shame.

They are beautiful classics though

Even the 5 series before the E34 (E30 years, but 5 series) was kind of fun in that old and angular sort of way.

They're all fantastic cars though.

Mongoose - what are the import taxes like if you went shopping for one in Germany? You could probably find an affordable one there that has been well maintained.

LEN - that 3.0CSL and Z4 ///M Coupe are awesome. I love the burnt orange wheels. A brave choice of colour but it works great.

For new cars importing is not a problem, but for such old ones there so much hassle and cost involved that its just not viable unless you have money to burn. That's unless the car is designated as a classic car, but it has to be at least 25 years old for that and the most desirable e34 models (1995 540i M-Sport 6 speed manual and 1995 3.8l M5 6 speed manual) are still far far from that.

What about importing a non-running one for parts? Do you guys have a "vin" there? VIN is Vehicle Identification Number. Basically a number that identifies the car quite specifically with a serial number among other things.
