Haha....we could only dream that a team would take our two huge contract liabilities from us.

Problem with both of them is that no NL team would trade for them because:

A: Contracts
B: Shit fielders
C: Your guess is as good as mine how well they will hit.

They are DH's at best.

The best chance of them getting Teixiera is by sending Matsui w. Giambi and atleast one prospect (and probably some money too). It will cost them more to get rid of Giambi and Damon, but it will be worth it if they can fill the right spots.

Add on: They should try to get Otsuka too if they can.

matsui is going nowhere because of his japanese draw. remember he brings in $$$$ from japan in product sales and tv rights.

Unfortunately i think the yankees are going to eat those contracts. Nothing can be done about it; they are overpaid and they under perform. noone in their right mind will take them. The only hope is that they both pull out of their funks.

the only way i see the yankees getting tex is through pitching prospects. if that's the case he isn't worth getting. All of this also depends on whether we resign arod-an essential if you ask me. If arod isn't a yankee next year we have a huge cleanup hitter role to fill. Matsui simply isn't the man for that job.

EDIT: i just looked at otsuka's numbers, not bad, i wouldn't be opposed to him. i was basing my previous opinion on how he performed against the yankees.

Melky is a good bargaining chip... and maybe we could trade those prospects we picked up from Detroit for Sheffield. *lets not talk about Sheffield plz, yes hes having a great year, but I think its a one year thing*

At the end of the day... Cashman wipes his ass with pitching prospects with the exception of Hughes.

BTW, I think ARod should finish his career in pinstripes. Hes too dangerous a hitter to give up, especially to the Angels who want him bad and KILL the yankees.

AGREED! on every point. I don't believe anything cashman says about building the system. The only reason hughes isn't going anywhere is because the media and fans would run his ass out of town if he did that.

Shef wasn't traded last year because of the need for youth, he was traded because he's an asshole and abreu. The only thing we could get in return was a bunch of kids. Point blank.

EDIT: Put you're 2 cents on this thread more often....you definitely raise some quality talking points.

Ah the farm system. Theres nothing there, it gets stripped every time something of value appears. They really had a massive falling out since the 90's... replace quality guys, absolute fan favorite people, guys that lived up to the NY spirit with guys that have swelled heads and oversized contracts.

[nostalgia]
I will die with the memories of Scott, Paul, Tino, Derek (young), Bernie and Mo. Talk about a team you loved to love.

For me it will always be Mattingly, O'Neill, and Tino. Even though Mattingly wasn't on any of those teams, he was there when they sucked, and that's when i fell in love with the yankees. Man, i can go through so many iffy players the yankees went threw in the bad times; roberto kelly, steve sax, randy velarde, pat kelly, gerald williams, alvaro espinoza, haha....despite all the good times, these are the yankees i remember the most.

speaking of bernie, they did him wrong. i understand the move, but you have to give the guy the dignity he deserves.

The thing is, you gotta be realistic, and see things from the point of view of fixing the team as a hole, instead of just filling spots. Thats where Cashman is fucking up.

-Abreu? Giant contract, giant head, you fill RF, but you sacrifice team cohesivness.
-Damon? Overpaid dead arm, lead off hitter, you fill CF, but you sacrifice team defense and waste your leadoff spot.
-1B? Whats going on here? Giambi? Come on! Hes hardly the Oakland MVP that we thought we were getting. Mienkiewitz? Gold Glove, ok. Bat, bleh. Cairo? Youre just digging now. Phelps? Well, a ray of hope here.

Donny Baseball is my favorite Yankee. I dont understand 20 and 30 year olds that say, oh Mantle, DiMaggio, Gehrig, etc... you werent alive during those times, how the fuck are they your favorite? Do you look at a stat sheet and pick?

Phillips i'm sure you meant.

thankfully abreu is just a club option this offseason. hopefully we let his ass go, and we go after someone else....i think rowand and torii hunter are free agents this offseason. I know for a fact A jones is a free agent, but with this season he's having i don't know if he's aging like damon.

EDIT: Hopefully we can get a quality CF in the offseason, move melke into right, and we'll have matsui in left. That should be good for 2 years or so. Hopefully by that time we can bring up a good prospect outfielder to replace matsui, then hopefully someone else to replace the aging CF we're likely to bring in.

Fuck that, I go for Rowand... he has more upside as he ages, hes hits for average, he can run if asked, and he doesnt bring an ego with him. He might not be a suicidal fielder like Torii, but thats not important. Its vital that we get quality guys, not superstars. AJones is a definitely NO NO!

The most important thing is that people dont get wide eyes for people having great seasons all of a sudden.

Youre giving Cashman too much credit, if anything he will trade for a LF prospect, rather than develop one.
