What's to stop using the minigun for long range kills? I do it all the time.
And how could you think that the Reedemer isn't a long range weapon? You can fly it anywhere on a map as long as no one kills you in the meantime.

Um its dependent on the game mode that you are playing. If you're dueling there is no deemer. Have you dueled before? If you have you would know that UT is about timing and map control [ item control ] so you have the greatest advantage when you fight - UT [ irrespective of game mode ] is also about knowing which weapon to use in each situation.
Using mini at long range isnt going to achieve anything unless your opponent is on 5 health. In other words at that range its a finishing off weapon because at full health they can move out of the way. Also given that you are unlikely to get a kill on a good player with mini from long range with full health- it also gives away your location on the map.
Oh and deemers are for noobs who cant get a frag. Hence the term 'deemern00b' :P
