have you watched any hockey lately? the sharks have been sucking fucking balls and so have the red wings. also you think that montreal has a chance against boston when boston has dominated them practically all season? montreal has no goaltending so they HAVE NO CHANCE against boston. shit, montreal barely beat them last year as a 1 seed LOLOLOL. as for the rangers, it's clear you haven't seen them play with torts at the helm and it's clear you haven't watched them play during the season against the caps. i'm just curious how you have the rangers having no shot when JOSE THEODORE is the caps goalie? he's one of the worst goalies in the league and has been ever since he stopped using PEDs. |
the sharks and wings also took their feet off of the pedal and rested players near the end of the year. They had nothing to play for. Throw out the regular season now, it means nothing anymore. I don't think the habs will beat the bruins( i hope so though), but it will be a long series (6 or 7 games) and with the rivalry and the fans it is the most entertaining match up of round one in the east imo. Carey Price has made 40 + saves in his last 3 starts (in losses but still) and has looked sharp. (he has been hurt most of the year). Markov is coming back early , and that will help. The last time the bruins finished first and played the habs in the first round, they lost badly in 5 games. The truth is anyone has a shot in the playoffs.
If you look at the last bruins vs habs game, it was a total brawl. The habs came back from a 3-0 defecit to lose 5 -4 in overtime over a brutal turnover by maxim lapierre. They showed Boston that they were not going to be an easy team to play, and all this without their best player.
Like i said i think Boston has a definite edge, but i still would not put all of my money on them yet. Did anyone think Carolina was going to win the cup when they did? The pressure is on Boston, as no one expects the habs to win. That could play a big part in making this series awesome. It will be bloody, old school hockey, and at the very least we will get to see that ape on skates laraque fight chara.

regular season does mean something going into the playoffs. the facts are that detroit and san jose have both been playing badly and it doesn't bode well for them going in. carolina was an anomoly when they won the cup because they got extremely fortunate with injuries to opposing teams. the real team to look at from that year was the oilers who surged just to make the playoffs and then rolled right to the cup. if you want to factor in extreme circumstances that's fine i guess, but you won't see me basing opinions on a team losing their entire defensive core or a hot goalie catching a serious injury.
det vs cbj - detroit has been struggling to score and they are going up against one of the best goalies in the league. also det goaltending has been questionable as both goalies were terrible during the season. the bjs have been able to beat the red wings (and beat them bad i might add) during the season so unless playoff experience/jitters (choking) come in to play, it will be a close series.
sj vs anh - this is a bad matchup for sj because sj is notorious for being a weak team in terms of physical play. the team isn't much different from last year and the team last year definitely got pushed around by cgy and dal. sj has been struggling, their top players are most likely not 100%, they have a bad history, they have tons of pressure, etc. the series will definitely be close especially since anh has been surging lately. how can you go against pronger in the playoffs???
mtl vs bos - this matchup basically goes like this: boston can play a wide open style of hockey because they don't have to worry about giving up goals. they don't have to worry becasue the mtl goalies are both awful ESPECIALLY COME PLAYOFF TIME. what's the last thing carey remembers? rj umberger lighting him up gretzky style. the mtl team is really overrated and i think most of the fans think they are a much better team than they are since they were able to stuff the all star votes in, but in reality it won't help. kovalev and the other has beens decided to come alive in the last week of the season, but it won't help much as they aren't playing the islanders or the thrashers. boston is better offensively, better defensively, and better in goal.
was vs nyr - series depends on whether the rangers take a ton of penalties or not. last few times they've played the caps, they were able to get under their skin (and that was without avery). caps are young and have little experience in the playoffs not to mention their goaltending and even their d is shaky. last year ovechkin was clenching his stick and struggled against the flyers. the guy takes 25% of the caps shots per game roughly so if that happens again, they could be in trouble. the rangers have no powerplay, but have been able to score lately and they should have no problem against theodore who is one of the worst goalies in the league. i also should mention that lundqvist has been playing some of his best hockey to end the season ESPECIALLY THE LAST TWO GAMES AGAINST THE FLYERS. except for ovechkin, the caps are a weak team in terms of physical play, so if they matchup staal against ovechkin and he does a decent job they should be able to win. the key is to keep the game 5v5 for the rangers. on a last note, the caps finished the regular season with one of the easiest, if not, the easiest schedule. on the other hand, the rangers have been playing for their playoff lives for the past month and finished with one of the hardest schedules. i believe the rangers will be much better in terms of preparation.
all my opinons of course, but i think they are accurate.
