I'm pretty sure that if you stick your SIM card into any other phone you'll be able to use the $30 data plan.

Rogers announced as well that the $30/6GB promotion will be available for their other non phones such as the Blackberry.

In most cases, the contract does not stipulate that you have to continue on the same plan for 3 years, but simply that you are contracted to the carrier for three years, what ever the plan.

This is what I was told by a Rogers rep about 2 years ago, and sure enough it was true. I was able to change my plan no problem but I had to stay with the company. Another one of my friends went through the same thing.

In the past there was actually a fee of like $35 i believe to change your plan (if you downgraded) but that fee was wiped away so there is no cost to change your plan.

I've actually changed my data plan several times without any issue at all as well.

Edit: I completely I forgot that I switched my plan as well lol. I switched to an EPP and apparently doing so you were suppose to re-new your contract for 3 years, but that never happened to me.

When I can afford a proper hope receiver, it will most definitely have bluetooth, so that way the source won't matter at all.

The iPhone will probably last 1 to 1.5 years max, thats without taking the battery into account. So in fact you would be paying:

year 1:
$200 iPhone
$360 data plan ($30/mo)
$480 voice plan ($40/mo)
$180 misc (call display, voicemail, tax, $15/mo)
$0 - $240 going over limit

year 2:
$600 iPhone
$360 data plan ($30/mo)
$480 voice plan ($40/mo)
$180 misc (call display, voicemail, tax $15/mo)
$0 - $240 going over limit

year 3:
$360 data plan ($30/mo)
$480 voice plan ($40/mo)
$180 misc (call display, voicemail, tax, $15/mo)
$0 - $240 going over limit

So if you only go through 2 iPhones, you would be paying a total of
$3860 to $4580.

So is the shiny piece of plastic and its services worth a quarter of a car?

Do that same calculation for a BlackBerry with data.
