I'm into trance since it exists, and I've been following the careers of most artists mentioned in this funny/stupid thread. I'm not aware of one artist that didn't have ups and downs during a year long career.
The rest is personal taste and peferences, which can change over the year, and sometimes not in the same direction your favourite artist may go.
As for Tiësto I've seen him twice this year and he was just excellent, much better than recently. Perfect track selection, was always in synch with how the crowd was doing. For all the DJ's I've seen this year, only PvD (@Energy 2003) was on the same level.

Come on people, stop being such critics and haters of success....
I mean how many albums has Tiesto produced in the past? how many amazing sets has he spun his world debut in Innercity...
the man was not born yesterday.....and so what if he tends to draw attention of the media and the public?....It kinda of reminds me of Oakie when he got all famous, and many people these days don't enjoy what he is spinning....
Oakie may have done some mainstream shit, but if you listen to his latest sets I think they are unique in their sound, but thats just my opinion....
not everyone has to sound like Ferry, Armin or PvD, dont get me wrong, I have seen all the above live several times, and they kick ass....
stop being haters

I saw Tiesto this year a few times>
/Innercity> Building up to die another day remix and when he dropped it 30000 peolpe went completly nuts.
/Tiesto In Concert> Absolutely a classic set. The whole evening was magikal!
/Love From Above> Again a great buildup, slow start with junkie xl-take the red pill, take the blue pill and ending with flight 643. Again everyone went nuts
/LoveParade> He tried to make the best of it but it didnt went to well. The truck shaked to much and all of the records were skipping. But again he played some fine tunes
/Godskitchen GG> Didnt like him so much but thats was becease the whole festival sucked big time. I never go to a UK festival again. Im going to the Hardhouse academy though. I hope frantic knows how to organize a party instead of godskitchen
/Dance Valley> Playing in frot of aprox> 40000 ravers. 12 lazer beams, one big hill. Playing> As the rush comes, traffic, rain on me, no regular, barbers adagio, cern, flight 643 and ending with airport. When i think back to it i get chickenpocks again.
My question to you> Why does some peolpe think he is losing it? Every time i went to tiesto, he played soooooo good. I only heard at the love from above 1 or 2 beatmatching faults, every other set was perfect and every set had a great build up!
How many of the tiesto haters saw tiesto spinning live the last 8 months, i think not many!
most of the people judge a dj after hearing a live set on mp3. Which is lame and not very representative because a live set never has the vibe and feeling than seeing a dj live. Example> I loved Marco v at innercity 2001 when i was standing and dancing there but when I heard the live set back i thought it was really boring.
Also I think some people here are like stupid teenage girls who switch favorite boy band every 2 weeks.
2 years ago everyone was talking about Oakey
Last year everyone kissed tiestos ass now everbody is kissing Armins and Pauls ass.
And why is everybody armin addicted> Ok his radioshow his great but in my opinion he hasnt got tiestos dj touch. Thats because Tiesto has more experience in spinning

Good point! And for live set the only thing that counts is how well it worked out live at the place.

Hehe, good decision-making by me
Well oh well ... finally somebody came up front and said all that needed to be known about Tiesto - he's a great DJ, but maybe a little bit too great. I have to agree that his track selection is pretty dam good, but as of his mixing skills and other effects, I'll have to put a few other DJs in front of him on my TOP 30 list. He's a great DJ and did a lot of good things for the genre, but I'd have to say he is certainly not the best. On my TOP 30 All-Time DJ List, I'd put him #4 below such names as 1) Paul Van Dyk, 2) Paul Oakenfold, and 3) Armin Van Buuren.
Keep up the good work, Tiesto!
