Profits from events, if there is profit, go to the promoter. The DJ fee, is what he's getting paid, 1 to work, and 2 to buy the tracks and practise.
Out of each vinyl purchased, ~$1.9AUD makes it way back to the Producer (I've lost the full break down, mind you). So by going to a club to support the scene, it doesn't really do much for the prouducer. If there's 600 people in a club or 1 person in the club, the producer's made the same money; ~$1.9 per track 1 time (IE only @ purchase).
It's good to see people out on the dance floor, that's awesome, it supports the local scene and DJ's (and god knows the local scenes need support )
