I think the meaning of "cheese" goes deeper if you look for its etymological roots. I think it's very related to an overly European melodic sound, with no funk or spice.
Just like 'kitsch' was consciously appropiated by 'camp' in the 1970s and 1980s, I think eurodance and Dutch trance from the late nineties appropiated a cheesy sound and gave it some class. There's no denying that the melodic lead from, say Out of the Blue, is extremely cheesy. Same goes for pretty much any Dutch or German or Italian or Belgian or British trance anthem from 1998 to the present. Cheese doesn't mean it's of bad quality, it just means it has a simple, unfunky melody. Nu NRG is Italian cheese, PvD is German cheese, Ferry is Dutch cheese, Solar Stone is British cheese etc.

No one needs an electronic dance music guide to tell them what music is what. You can tell by ear. Quit cavorting with your genres and subgenres. Theres 6 genres:
Trance
Techno
Breaks
Ambient
DNB
Psyche
The reason for this is that each of these genres sound significantly different enough from the others to count as its own genre. And I by no means have engraved this into stone, its just something broad enough to go by. Anything broader would be 2 genres: 4-on-4, and Other.

My bad I forgot house. Silly me, 7 genres it is.
Anyway, jungle falls under DNB. Do you really think tribal house and hard house are their own genres? Theyre simply subgenres of house. The way your system works, you'd have to include all 4 billion subgenres of each genre, even the small regional ones like, hypothetically, Ohio Eggplant Harvest House.
