You guys are missing one important point ... humans are creatures of habbit, if we do something (in this case follow somthing) for a long period of time, we get bored easily and always expect more.
We "tranceaddicts", have been into the scene for quite a while, and our tastes developed. We care more about the music than about having fun. Their have been countless of times that i went to clubs only to see a bunch of tranceaddicts sticking by the booth trying to get a glimpse of what track the big dj is playing, instead of just dancing and having fun.
What im trying to get at, imagine going back to the early days you started listening to edm, your first experiences at club events. Back then you didnt know as nearly as much as you do now (well for me that was the case) and your experience was awesome cause everythign was NEW. Currently, every time a big dj plays, their are only a handfull of ppl who can id 2 tracks or so, the rest jsut come to have fun and its NEW to them.
Stop following the genre for 3 months, like cut yoruself completely off, when you then return and see a big dj.. even fluff trance will sound good to you, cause its NEW.
We are unfair to critisize big DJs for playing fluff. They have a whole club to cater to not just us tranceaddicts. We let our big ego's get in the way of us havign a good time ... "why the fuck is pvd playing time of our lives.. that track is so old and cheesy, he should put it to rest". But the person next to you is digging the track, cause it is the first time they heard it.
We are just spoiled. And for everyone who says Armin is self promoting his label on ASOT, WELL YA OF COURSE HE IS. He is making a living producing tracks, djing, and running a label. We would all do the same. In the end it is up to the public to buy the records, if tehy are poor, they wotn sell. Its business.
Remember not just TRANCEADDICTS listen to edm, our views can be right and educated but do not reflect the views of everyone listening to "our" music. So put your egos to rest and go listen to whatever you want, have fun, dance, and enjoy life! |
i think this is a very intelligent post...
however...
i personally don't find that i have grown bored with trance. the only thing that i'm bored with is crappy qaulity tracks. if i hear an amazing tune...then i'm gonna enjoy just as much as something that i've listened to for years. perfect example...
Float - Preperation
this tune was just released about a month or two ago...and i think its fantastic. have you heard any dj's playing it? probably not. that's because they are so busy playing crappy tunes that people without the backgrounds in music have come to love.
i don't blame the dj's for playing/making bad tunes, but blame the stupid people that buy those records. if we all were a little more picky about what we wanted to hear in a club we might end up with less DJ Sammy...
here is a perfect example...
Tiesto feat BT - Love Comes Again
now i personally think this tune is gash, but their are many how actually enjoy it. i don't understand that, but tiesto obviously made it to appeal to people that are willing to accept something like this because its "DJ Tiesto" and not because its good. Tiesto is thinking in the wrong way. he thinks that this will generate record sales for him, when really what would generate more sales would be to produce something amazing that could not be disputed as a masterpeice...
i'm tired of this thread...its not gonna change anything...you people keep listening to the crap that you want...the rest of you feel free to pm me if you want to talk about real music...
