I wrote this once in another thread but I have to write it again. My heart goes out to the victims and friends and family of the victims. May they rest in peace. I managed to get a hold of a few friends who live in New York and I'm so glad that they are fine. Yet I think this is it... World War III has been declared. Let's all hope not...

(Terror-Trade Centre)

One police official says the number of casualties from today's attacks on the World Trade Center could be in the thousands.

The Center's twin towers have been brought down by a pair of terrorist attacks.

Hijacked planes were flown into the towers this morning, causing the towers to collapse in a shower of dust and rubble.

A horrified witness says he saw bodies falling from windows, and people jumping from the buildings. (11)

American Airlines says it's lost two aircraft in what it calls tragic incidents today.

They were the two aircraft that crashed into the World Trade Center.

United Airlines confirms the loss of two planes as well.

One crashed near Pittsburgh -- United hasn't said where the second went down. (11)

A state of frenzy exists in Washington, D-C.

Federal buildings in the U-S capital have been evacuated, including the White House.

Following this morning's attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, a plane crashed into the Pentagon.

The Situation Room at the White House is in full operation. (11)

(Terror-Borders-Air Traffic)

All of Canada's border crossings with the U-S have been closed.

As a result, thousands of Canadian travellers are stranded.

Passenger flights in Canada and the U-S are grounded.

All U-S bound international flights have been diverted to Canada.

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority says flights in the air ``have to land somewhere,'' but no new flights will take off. (11)

Security measures are being stepped up in Ottawa.

Parliament Hill has been closed to tourists, and the street in front of the parliament buildings is closed to traffic.

The prime minister has called the terrorist acts unspeakable and cowardly.

Jean Chretien says such an attack is not only an assault on the targets, but an offence against the freedom and rights of all civilized nations. (11)

New Brunswick's premier is safe and sound in New York City.

Bernard Lord was staying not far from the World Trade and Convention Center when this morning's attack occurred.

Lord and members of his staff were at a hotel in Manhattan, several blocks from the landmark twin towers. (11)

My g/f just told me that 3 maniacs hijacked a plane and are going for californioa (west-coast)?? well guess this one is just a rumor.. (concidering the source)

contary to some earlier posts, NO british aircraft were hijacked.
As soon as the event occured all UK flights were cancelled and all that were airborne were diverted from US Airspace.

The fiancial and business areas of London, England have also been evacuated as precautions, The UK Government see the UK as the next possible target !

and SICK ! i just saw on TV pictures of Palistinians dancing and celebrating cos of this attack, They are celebrating the death of a possible 25,000 INNOCENT people, man thats disgusting !

The repurcussions of todays events will be felt for years, lets hope we can turn this into world Peace and not world war.

And my thoughts also turn to Twilogodess, a resident of NYC. I hope she's ok

There is only so much info you can rely on the news for...one thing you wont here about is about the other planes that have been hijacked. Hijacked and forced to be shot down by out fighter jets. They are not going to get any info about us shooting down our own jets with our own civilians in them. They believe we have to sacrafice a plane full of people...to save several buildings full of people. That you will not hear about on any news.
