I agree with that...

BUt guys INTJS (NO-ONE ANSWERED MY FUCKING QUESTIONS... I'm PRESUMING THAT MEANS INTELLECTS)....... A lot of druggos are into trance as well... Trance sounds awesome on E or Mary Jane... A lot of people only start listening to trance once they've experimented with drugs, and they start loving it...

Hmmmmm.... I wonder if it's certain brain characteristics that mean people like trance... maybe even somethign to do with genes? Definately, it has to be a brain thing if a lor people start loving trance it after doing drugs.

Addicted to what?
If it's the music you mean then I think it's just normal for a fairly low-publicity genre to have a dedicated fanbase..

Yes, pretty much all intellectuals are attracted to melodic things. That and those who get bored a lot are attracted to melodic stuff. Rational personalities love melodic things.

i wonder myself, and its weird. maybe its chemistry. for those wired for trance, it could cause the pleasure part of our brain to be much more active than someone not wired for trance or when i listen to some other musik.

its a difficult thing to pinpoint.. a chemical study into this would be quite interesting... i mean does a genre's image create the person, or are those people drawn to the genre, which therefor create that genre's perceived image.. i mean lets take rnb/hip hop. the perceived image of that genre is that its for tough muth fcukers and gangsters and stuff (very stereotypical but it is the perecieved image) the question is. are people drawn to this type of music looking for a connection with those type of people, or do they enjoy the music and then are influenced by the people in that genre.

as far as people and the perceived image of trance, its moreso perceived as a genre of music, which you cannot enjyo unless you are taking drugs, which in my case is definately not true.. in trance's case i find there are a huge amount of lost souls who wander into club to try and find a connection with the people in them who a fcuked off there heads and in a 'lovey' mood. and whilst i might be occasionally too, i can still see these people as they stick out like a sore thumb...

i know i havent answered any questions, and moreso posed more of them, but its an interesting topic to discuss.

i'm sorry i didn't answer that question, i actually forgot, got so excited about the whole personality type thing. basically, an intj is one of 16 myers-briggs personality types based on jung's axes of describing individuals. presumably these four axes give some kind of representation of what kind of person you are, how you structure your life, how you interact with the world, etc. the myers-briggs test is often given to individuals in order to determine what career options would be best for them.

four axes:

1) introverted vs. extraverted (whether you derive energy from being away from people or around people)
2) intuitive vs. sensor (basically a distinction between whether you are more engaged with the exterior world or your interior world)
3) thinker vs. feeler (whether you think with your head or with your heart)
4) judger vs. perceiver (whether you prefer some order/structure/routine or "freedom" and unpredictability)

an intj is an introverted, intuitive, thinker, judger. this is all just a rough summary, overly simplified... so if you want more info, go to this link [http://www.personalitypage.com] if you're curious to learn more. i have no idea how accurate they are, i would think that they give a rough sketch, but people are so complex it's hard to break us down by binary categories.

now about whether intellectuals tend to like trance, i know many intellectuals who don't. and considering that we all love it, i doubt we're going to go around saying that only dummies listen to trance. although i definitely feel that trance is the one thing that both stimulates and relaxes my brain at the same time.

i do think there is something about the way our brains are wired because i really don't understand how all some people hear is repetition- both in melody and beats, whereas we obviously don't! actually, maybe this is just the right kind of music for analytical people, considering how much we are analyzing this topic.

I know heaps of people who love their music just like us... they're into rock and hip-hop... People have to be able to connect to the music... Old-sSchool hip-hop connected to the blacks... Hip-Hop is like the OPPOSITE of trance, it's no music/melody, it's just pure lyrics... and even the lyricists have shit voices... but urban blacks loved it, because the lyrics were somethign they could relate to....

Umm... I have a friend who was into Rage against the machine, and other non-commercial rock etc.... He's getting into trance now ( i lent him an album for a year, and he finally got used to it)

The reason why trance hits hard is becasue it is designed purely to hit the heart.... It doesn't make much of statement, or pose a question.... It just manipulates the emotions.... that's purely what it's designed to do when it's being made... When u describe a track... a lot of people do it by describing their emotions...

The reason why so many people aren't into it, is because it takes so god damned long to get used to... U have to sit their and get used to the repition... No-one is gonna sit there and put up with that, unless they're used to it... You can tell them all u want how good it is but they have no reason to sit their and actually listen to an album... Even if u MAKE them listen.... they're gonna listen to it thinking "THIS IS SHIT, IT'S GIVING ME A HEADACHE, IT'S SO REPETITIVE... THIS IS SHIT, IT'S JUST THE SAME THING... IT'S MAKING ME DIZZY... THIS IS HORRIBLE, IT SUX..."... when u start out listening to Trance, u have to TRY to enjoy it, and feel the music....

LOL, your right on this one, I try to get many of my freinds to listen to the music I like which is Trance, and not even before the track finishes they say "how can you listen to this stuff" and they always call it stripper music.

Lucky for me man, I wasnt like that, I got used to it right from the moment I heard it. Heck I remember one of the first songs that got me into the Electronica genre was some crap cd called Radikal Techno. Right when I listened to it I though it was great. I moved on of course to Trance, which is "The Messiah of Music".

Like someone else said, I live in the U.S which is filled with crap radio stations and shows(TRL),BET that play nothing but Rap and pop and etc. So I of course started out with that, but once I got into the Electronica scene I started wearing off the rap and rock music, and then when I hit to trance I completely got rid of rap and rock.

About the topic, I would say its true, there isnt really that much trance fans compared to other genres, but I have to say we listen to it a lot more and much more dedicated to it, Im one of them who cant go living a day withough listening to Trance. Overall I would say I listen to about 7 hours of Trance each day

what makes you say that?

If it's true, it might explain why that other dude in this post loved classical so much as well...

but then again, if it is true after all, most of us should be into classical....

Personally, I don't think it's possible to link the love of trance to fucking Myer's Briggs...

WEll... the reasoning behind it is because u will find that a lot of differnet people into trance... but i can't understand whether the variety is only becasue of the drugs or personal tastes.... (Are people into Hard Trance different in personality as opposed to someone into Progressive?... from my experience it seems to be true...

J stands for Judgemental.. I've done Myers brigg and I"m not judgemental, and I like trance thankyou

U'd need to survey atleast 20 TAs, 20 non-TA trance Lovers, 20 Non-Trance Lovers, and 20 TA non-trance lovers.... to be sure that this teally does relate to Myers Briggs....

Shit... I forgot what I was gonna right/write, wateva...

Umm... I agree with the guy who said that people listening to minority music tend to cling... But i do think Trancers are a littel bit more into it, they always listening ot music... I'm forcing my self to stop becasue I have fucking uni exams soon, and I don't want anythign to dissturb my studies (first time since i've listend to trance, I'm no t gonna do it whilst studying)....

Right now I'm actually very afraid that Trance is gonna go the path of rap... Rap used to have a very dedicated fan-base BEFORE it went commercial.... Then once it went into the commercial industry, and the big factories got their filthy fucking hands on it, Hip-Hop got "adultered" as they say... and now, it's rooted beyond recognition...

The last thing I need is tfor everything to do with trance to sound like that COMMERCIAL SHIT, that's already taking over right now....

I think it may well be do to perhaps the way the brain is wired... Maybe people used to repetitive music (I know i probably got used to it from playing computer games), have their brain changed a little, so they can handle it...
Seriously guys... when u REALLY sit down and CONCCERTRATE Aall throughout a 10minute track... u think.. HOLY SHIT!!! THIS SO SOOO REPTITIVE... u really need to sit down and listen to it for every second for that to happen,

personally, i think it's just the WAY we listen to the music... for us, that transition is immediate... the minute we listen to trance, our brains switch to a special "mode" so we can handle the repetitiveness...

When listen to a CD in the car after a 2 hour drive, then u take it out... and listen to the radio shit that's on before u pull the keys out ( i don't have a car BTW), the music sounds so FUCKING WEIRD... not to mention, so FUCKING SHIT>.....

ANYONE LOOKING FOR A PHD?????

ANYONE????

THIS IS A GOOD RESEARCH TOPIC???

IT MIGHT GET U A FUCKING NOBEL!!!!

well, for me it is because:

- either i am happy or sad ( I listen to Trance)
- I can not drive in the city unless I have Trance music on, it keeps me from loosing my mind when I am driving behind an old man who can not drive
- I have to have trance when I am working out, If i am not then there is no purpose of working out
- I am tired of the people cursing in their songs try to make a stupid point about their whores, or about their woman, or about their lovers.

In Trance it is about express ur feelings from inside of you, it is just something u can not never replace.

Ha Ha Ha...

MAd ****....

I couldn't agree more.....

When you REALLY feel the music, it's been shown that it kicks in Endorphins.... Endorphins are the body's natural pain-killers. It's stronger than any PAracetemol or Ibuprofen shit out there... that's why it's so awesome to work out to...
