I would probably agree that avenue is trance, perhaps more techy than others he has done, but still trance. Just to clarify, even though I wasn't being addressed, some of his older, older stuff is less trancy.

OTAB is trance???? Pikes is trance?? Vega is trance??? Together We Will Conquer is trance?? Thats bullshit

You cant define 'trance' by reference to elements of the track (bassline etc). Thats not how it works.

And I'm not a man

arguement is that Avenue is indeed trance. it was made when trance was at its peak 1999, and from a classic trance album OTAB.

Pikes is trance. Out there is definitely trance and progressive trance, for the most part. There may be a couple of minor exceptions, but it's a very trancy album. The most I would say is some tracks lean towards the progressive trance arena.

So anything made in 1999 is trance? This argument doesnt really follow...

anyway, Avenue was made in 96/97 so that isnt relevant.

Id say one area that it leans toward more would be techno/breakbeat. Not 'progressive'. Plus Pikes / Santos are blatent 'house' tracks.

Just because I haven't listened to it in a while, I will pull out my OTAB vinyl tonight and check out Pikes, in particular. Santos I may agree with you on, and that's probably why I never played it. The starecase mix of Vega is the only one worth listening to IMO. The original is so slow moving. I was really disappointed when I found out the version on Politics wasn't the original.

He has used more breaks recently (Reflections), but I don't particularly remember breaks on OTAB, but it may be the couple of tracks that I didn't play. Is Together We Will Conquer breaks? I don't remember. If it is it's more trance breaks than Nu skool or Florida.

thats what you think it is, not a fact. and who cares what a 'common conception' is. saying whats true is important. you blatantly said Avenue isnt a trance track, and im telling you to research some more before you make that kind of an assumtion. Paul van Dyk - Avenue is a definite trancer.

yeh Vega is total breakbeat - its hardly slow moving ?? its pretty hectic and is the same bpm as the rest of the album. Yeh Together We Will Conquer has a whole lot of breakbeat in it.
