Really that is the only thing they can do... besides if you don't have an internet connection what would you be doing buying HL2 anyway?

Got the game a couple of days ago and am totally loving it. The graphics are excellent and it runs ok my computer. Although it took an eternity to install and it takes a while to actually load, I can't really complain, I am greatly enjoying the game.

You have to get online once to activate it, after that you don't have to be online to play single player.

Yeah, it didn't climax well...err...well, you know what I mean.

I was just in a dream state towards the end of that game - riding in that metal coffin-shaped thing around the huge factory in the citadel before you're finally lifted up to the highest office....

two words come to mind:

HOLY.... SHIT.....

Absolutely GORGEOUS scenery, and the art direction for that game was just...wow. Very subtle, but appreciated nevertheless.

I thought it was a little easy as well - especially once you get the Gravity Gun modified.

Actually it turns out that stuttering and skipping is a major issue with HL2 right now. Almost everyone with all different kinds of computers are having issues with it. For me, my main issue is with CS:Source; it keeps crashing on me when it skips. It's something with the source engine...

The last level was definately easy, but I think that it makes up for it by being incredibly fun. The (you know what I'm talking about) is just a pleasure to use on combine soldiers

There was plenty of difficulty in the levels leading up to the last.
