Okay thanks for the advice guys, I'm gonna continue looking into getting technic 1200s, a vestax pcv275, and a cd deck (I'll look into the denon s5000 or s3000, or the pioneer cdj800 or cdj1000 -- depending on money issues), then headphones I'll shop around on my own, then buy some initial vinyl to start up with along with CDs and such. --Thanks again people, let me know if you've got any other advice/recommendations.

And Abhay what kind of CD system is that? It looks like its from target or something?

but umm... then wat te hell do the bars (above the 1 and the 2), in the photos I took do then? because all i know is that they control the volume of the two differnt CDS that are playing. I use them to mach up volume, so when i fade, i don't have to worry about it being loud/soft and having it sound weird becasue all the sudden the volume needs to change.... i don't understand, because this si exactly wat u said gain does bro...

lol, nice diagram

although i feel you are still missing what i am trying to say.... when djing, not everyone uses the crossfader to bring tracks in out. in fact i would say probably MOST people use the channel faders (which is what you have highlighted as "gain controls??" on your pic) and leave the crossfader in the middle, unless they are cutting or scratching. essentially, the channel faders and gain controls do actually do the same thing, but if you can imagine the sound going through the gain control then into the fader, this is how it works. when you match both tracks volume with the gain control, you don't have to have the 2 channel faders at different levels.

imagine 2 tracks, one is recorded at 50dB, and the other is recorded at 56dB, if you slam both faders right up, one track is going to be louder than the other. with gain control you can alter the original volume, so that when you put both faders righ tup, they are both at the same level.

AHhhhh!!!

i get u... it's like... a channel volume thign for hannel volume things?????cool..

well.. if i can hook this thing up to a mixer ( i'm happy just to use chennel volume things), do u recon i should just keep it then? because a mixer would solve my problems, and would be the cheapest set up out there.... or do u recon it would be impossible to hook upto a mixer (looking at that photo of teh vestax mixer, i recon i can hook up my outputs to that mixer using line in/out).....

if that works out... what would be the advantages of just buying 2 new CDJs instead, which i can't afford anyways?

well you mentioned before that the only output on what you have now is a single line-out. so you can't separate the two channels (without the balance control) and thus buying a mixer would be pointless for you, because the whole point of having a mixer is to mix 2 or more channels.

can you not get your money back on what you just bought? if so, it might be worth you buying these:
http://www.decks.co.uk/products/cdp...numark/cdn22mk3
and then a cheap as chips mixer:
http://www.decks.co.uk/products/mixers/numark/dm950

it will cost all together about double what you payed for the thing you have now, but there is a reason you payed such a small amount for it, as i am sure you have worked out by now

DJ equipment (even the cheapest stuff) is expensive stuff. the advantages of having the separate cd decks and mixer, would be that you will be able to cue the tracks properly. this means not only will you be able to hear it in your headphones properly, but you will also be able to store a cue point to start the track from, which means you won't have to search for the right place every time you want to start the track again. plus using a mixer, you will have eq's and gain controls, meaning you can actually make a mix sound good. now the kit i have suggested above IS the cheapest possible solution, so if you can afford to pay more, do so on the mixer, because that is a terrible mixer (althoughit is 74612938 times better than what you have now)

Hey guys, just for further help,

what songs would you guys suggest I listen to-to work on beatmatching? Nothing too complex, but something where I can hear the basic beats and such so that I can work on training my ears to recognize them so I'll atleast be able to start getting the basics of beatmatching until my turn tables arive (I haven't bid on any off of ebay as of yet, so I'm not sure when this'll be).

I mean when I listen to Tiesto (my fav) I can hear the different tracks he's mixing and kind of separate them in my head, but his stuff obviously gets complicated and I'd just like some suggestions on basic stuff (even the most simple beats around).

Peace.

if you can deal with it, hard house is great for learning to beatmatch. the beats are always really crisp and easy to pick out.
