while 93.1 does play pure cheese during the day, at night that is not the case..quality broadcast like global dj hostd by markus shulz, nokturnal sessions with edgar v, george acosta, and oakenfold also have there radio shows broadcasted on 93.1. so unless you were misinformed, 93.1 doesnt play just cheese and crap...and i wouldnt hold your breath on tampa starting up a "real edm radio"..

Dude, that was deep! Alas, I wish I could disagree with you, but I can't. I'm also distressed to see our great society so embrace a so-called music/culture that willingly refers to the fairer sex as bitches and ho's or holds that "disrespect" should be met with violence (such as that knucklehead Ron Artest "defending himself" in that now infamous melee or that scrum at that Vibe(?) award show). (But then I also have serious issues with a society that holds up the likes of Britney/Christina/Paris as celebrity and something to be admired. "South Park" soooo hit that nail on the head.) Unfortunately, I don't think this is a storm we can steer around. We're just going to have to ride through it like a hurricane and hope it doesn't leave too much damage in its wake.

I think the EDM Radio in Tampa issue has less to do with our scene and more to do with the increasingly "consolidated" radio industry under corporate umbrellas like Clear Channel. 95.7 became "The Beat" because some Clear Channel bean-counter saw that "Wild 98.7" was doing well, and by all that was unholy, they were going to get in on that action! We've all heard the process of local stations with their own unique style being replaced with homogenized and pasteurized corporate shells. At some point, all music will just stream in from a national server with local weather/traffic edited in...

I wasn't into clubs until recently, but I distinctly remember the absolute tizzy our so-called "city fathers" went into when the media started whipping up the "raves == drugs(!)" frenzy. They panicked, promised "We'll do something!", and promptly imposed a bunch of silly ordinances that just killed the scene here. So what do we have now? Clubs closing at 2:45am, just when a Tiesto or Ferry is getting warmed up! Supposedly, Tiesto is going on at 12:30, that's little over a 2 hour set. 2 hours! When he was at Space in Sept, that's how long it took him before he went on his "Magik" tear and absolutely tore Space apart.

tampa edm station is just an obscure idea..
