I used to own a whistle too. But then the music changed and whistles didn't quite work from tribal or uplifing trance.

Actually i support to idea of not having glowsticks in clubs that spin house. Traditionally house is played in that warehouse type environment, low cielings, not that much light -- it all adds to the sensual nature of house music. Lights ruin that ambiance. I'm not even a big fan of laser and all that other crap which is better suited for Techno and Trance events. Those gimicks might wow you the first time, but later on they just become annoying.

Most house addicts will tell you they prefere jackin it up in comfortable dark corner as opposed to in the spotlight with lasers zooming around, creating patterns on their forehead. That's ok for a trance event...

Frankly, for me even BOA's main floor is too brightly lit (it's not terrible, but i'd prefere if it were more darker). The lights are brutal once 6 o'clock rolls around and people start getting real cracked out.

Why would people ask you for a light show if you weren't dancing with lights to begin with ? I'm assuming you aren't, and if you are, then you can always just say i'm not good at giving light shows and people generally accept that. I think most people who are good with lights have no problem in giving a show -- it's NOT that big a deal. It takes about 1 minute on average.

The flailing arms and getting stabbed in the eye can become a problem, but that's generally a clubber who's high and doesn't have a clue how to play with glowsticks. Those bastards are the real hazard. But then again, how that's any worse then some asshole whose kickin with wild abandone as you walk behind them and get kicked in the shins...

It happens... You're in a packed club, your body will get touched unintentionally...

Hell, i remember the days when smoking was common and you'd be in serious risk of getting burnt with lit cigs. Now that's worse then anything a glowstick wielding candykid can do.

But yea - i agree - NO Lights at BOA !!! Keep that shit in the TRANCE Domes please !

I agree 110%

As for any other place with glowsticks...meh, if that's what you're into. As for light shows though, I tend to dabble in the art of recreational drugs from time to time, and NOT ONCE have light shows interested me or done anything remotely cool for me. But hey...

Anyone that brings a whistle to a club can just straight up die! lol

i can't be arsed to read this whole thread...but they should be abolished.

fucking stupidest things ever.

ew.

the amount of times i've been hit by them, and feared for my eyes cos some idiot is flailing around is ridiculous. some guy actually hit my friend in the eye with one. and if i trip over any more losers who are sitting down on the FLOOR OF A CLUB getting a light show, i will kick them.

yes, i'm evil and i don't care.

Before abolishing glowsticks, i want to see the following gone

1) Whistles

2) Air Horns

3) Shirtless Monkeys

If those three are eradicated, i won't mind losing glowsticks either. To all those who trip and fall over people who are sitting on the floor i have one question -- 1) How high are you ? I mean, it's not that difficult to spot someone sprawled on the floor - I'm 6'5, and i can see that far down so i'm not sure how you can manage to fall over someone. Seems like people lack motor skills and then blame someone else (i guess when you're high you'll always find someone else to blame

Kicking them isn't a bad idea either...they're probably high as well, so a swift kick might go unnoticed. It is evil, but meh...you're probably the type of person who elbows and pushes people anyway so what difference does it makes if you kick someone who's already down ?

LOL - I know i'm defending glowsticks a little too strongly even though i don't play with them, but i just don't see them as the biggest problem in a club. They aren't even as bright as some of the one's i've seen before which are these industrial strenght lights which you can spot 100 yards away. People who hate lights in general don't know how to bust a move anyway. I'd rather look at someone who has skills them some dumbass doing the left-right stomp with a little hip shake all night long.

We should mobilize the anti-whistle squad. Who wants to bet that fool in the big red wig will show up tonight with his whistle?

btw, love to dance with glowsticks but I'm not too good at giving shows. For those of you that don't know, Cdn Tire has glowsticks.. $5 a pair.
