I see where you're going with that, but it's a club...
I know they attempt pass off this high class mature club/lounge, but really.... c'mon it's an afterhours night club.... |
Actually i support to idea of not having glowsticks in clubs that spin house. Traditionally house is played in that warehouse type environment, low cielings, not that much light -- it all adds to the sensual nature of house music. Lights ruin that ambiance. I'm not even a big fan of laser and all that other crap which is better suited for Techno and Trance events. Those gimicks might wow you the first time, but later on they just become annoying.
Most house addicts will tell you they prefere jackin it up in comfortable dark corner as opposed to in the spotlight with lasers zooming around, creating patterns on their forehead. That's ok for a trance event...
Frankly, for me even BOA's main floor is too brightly lit (it's not terrible, but i'd prefere if it were more darker). The lights are brutal once 6 o'clock rolls around and people start getting real cracked out.

I also find it VERY annoying when people feel the need to repeatedly ask you for a lightshow. And then, even with refusal - you have to put up with flaling arms and risk getting punched in the face (which has happened to me SERVERAL times). |
Why would people ask you for a light show if you weren't dancing with lights to begin with ? I'm assuming you aren't, and if you are, then you can always just say i'm not good at giving light shows and people generally accept that. I think most people who are good with lights have no problem in giving a show -- it's NOT that big a deal. It takes about 1 minute on average.
The flailing arms and getting stabbed in the eye can become a problem, but that's generally a clubber who's high and doesn't have a clue how to play with glowsticks. Those bastards are the real hazard. But then again, how that's any worse then some asshole whose kickin with wild abandone as you walk behind them and get kicked in the shins...
It happens... You're in a packed club, your body will get touched unintentionally...
Hell, i remember the days when smoking was common and you'd be in serious risk of getting burnt with lit cigs. Now that's worse then anything a glowstick wielding candykid can do.
But yea - i agree - NO Lights at BOA !!! Keep that shit in the TRANCE Domes please !
