there just isnt that much involved in djing trance.
house/breaks/hiphop/techno...thats where the skills start to come in.
Trance Djs use their skills well, PVD, armin, Tiesto, all do great jobs of mixing, but it just isnt as demanding technically. |
u 100% said that right, couldnt have said it better. i think an artist like kid rock in his younger days is better a 1000 times than tiesto, looking @ the technical performance of spinning. i think most people here confuse spinning (adding effects, scracthing etc..) with mixing, what most trance dj's do ... and when they are good at it, they can do some nice tricks with a turntable and mixer .. but not comparable with people from the break-/hiphop-/house-/etc- scene ..

They are still DJ's, and still the most technically skilled at it. I think you're missing THAT point. It doesn't matter how long they play. One six minute set from I-Emerge requires more skill(on the turntables) than the entire career of Richie Hawtin put together. It doesn't matter if what they do with it is different, they still use the exact same tools. And turntablists use those tools the best. All turtablists are DJ's but not all DJ's are turntablists.
