Philosophy for Dummies.

seriously, lol.

it's out there and gives you a basic understanding of most of the main philosophies.

however, if you want a more in depth understanding yer just going to have to find out something that interests you and go into it.

Personally I find German Idealism facinating.

Heidegger and Neitzsche are my favs.

hmm... religion eh?

i think religion would be better if people didnt try to push it as hard as they do...

i used to be a Jehova's Witness for like half my life and according to them celebrating anything is a sin - i had my first birthday party when i was like 13yrs old because before then i would've "gone to hell"

personally i think its a bunch of baloney - how could the act of acknowledging somones life be evil

i understand the whole Xmas thing - yeah jesus wasnt born on xmas or whatever and yeah maybe it is wrong to lie to kids and tell them some fat dude is coming down the chimney (or thru the front door for those who aren't fourtunate enough to have a chimney ) to bring them gifts might not be the most honest thing to do... but back in the day the idea was good incentive to get kids to behave or theyd get coal

i live in texas, and we've got more churches than Seattle has starbucks... and if that werent enough, alot of them are FUKIN GARGANTULAN

like the church im graduating at - youd think it were a basketball arena if it werent for the bigass steeple

^why is it that churches have hugeass steeples? friend of mine told me its an antenna for god the taller the steeple the better the reception - thus it must be a better church

anyways...another thing i found somewhat curious about some religions is that they have crazy views on random shit...

like mormons you could hold one hostage and threaten to force them to drink coffee if you ever really needed gas money

with the jehovas witnesses they were always preaching that Every religion(other than theirs of course) was going to hell because of their "false preachings"

my girlfriend is a cashier at albertsons... some guy who came thru her register saw her name tag and told her her name was ugly because "it wasnt spelled right" (Kyndall rather than Kendall) then he told her she was going to hell because shes a redhead and she has a nose piercing of course she was like WTF??? the guy thought nothing of it of course and told her "jesus can forgive you" - true story happened about a week and a half ago

anyways... ive had my share of religion...ill pass

Yes, the pagan holidays. My grandmother was studying with Jehovah Witness's for awhile. They kept pressuring for her to join the church. I don't understand that. Should they not feel granted that they are spreading the word, despite whether or not their institution gains extra members. Well, I guess it's because here, they built their own church and use solely fundings from the members for whatever may be needed for the congregation. Anyways, she no longer studies as much. She can't get over their conceptions of gun control, blood donation and the woman's role.

Special thanks to:

Orbax
and
Floor for the extra, thuroughly detailed information!

and Pink, thanks for the recommendations !
