oh well when i'm done with school and all that and when i'm older, i'll do some research and figure my beliefs out... |
I couldn't let a quote like that disappear into obscurity.
I had a crisis of faith when I was 12 or so. Following that I went on a ten year mission to learn about as many different religions as I could so I could figure out what made the most sense to me. I ended up going with the United Church (being raised christian I think it was unavoidable that I would end up picking a christian denomonation) because it allowed for a lot of freedom and preached a very interpretive vision of the bible.
That being said, I joined the Roman Catholic Church this past Sunday (all cracked out after seeing Infected Mushroom and Christopher Lawrence the night/morning before... went from the club to mass... not the best idea I ever had). My fiancee is a fairly devote catholic and it was a given that she would incist our children be raised catholic. This left me in the unfavorable position of either becoming catholic myself or someday having to explain to them why daddy can't take communion with them. I thought it would be unfair for me to make them choose between their father and their god by saying "well, your church doesn't think daddy is good enough to take communion because he doesn't believe exactly what you do."
