Where I'm from I wouldn't say people bash electronica. They more or less are indifferent to it, but never seem to develop interest in it. There have been many times when I'd be sitting in my dorm room playing some song, ex. Mindcircus, and a friend would come up to me and say "Yo that song is sick! What is it?" But whenever I try to introduce other tunes to them, they just kinda nod their heads up and down politely. Meh..I personally think that people who mainly listen to trance and electronica listen to music differently than others and favor different musical elements that aren't found in the modern pop stylizings of the likes of Lil' Jon (god I fucking HATE the so-called "hip-hop" club music). But in the end, to each his own. I'll stick to my music and you stick to yours.

When I pull out up front, you see the Benz on dubs
When I roll 20 deep, it's 20 knives in the club
Niggas heard I fuck with Dre, now they wanna show me love
When you sell like Eminem, and the hoes they wanna fuck
But homie ain't nothing change ho's down, G's up
I see Xzibit in the Cutt that nigga roll that weed up
If you watch how I move you'll mistake me for a playa or pimp
Been hit wit a few shells but I dont walk wit a limp
In the hood, in L.A. they saying "50 you hot"
They like me, I want them to love me like they love 'Pac
But holla in New York them niggas'll tell ya im loco
And the plan is to put the rap game in a choke hold
I'm feelin' focused man, my money on my mind
I got a mill out the deal and I'm still on the grind
Now shawty said she feeling my style, she feeling my flow
Her girlfriend wanna get bi and they ready to go

I have liked Trance since I was 13, so it's been a long time. My peers never really understood it. I made many CDs for people in high school, but couldn't get people into it. I even offered to DJ at one of the school parties, since there was a kid named Kyle who had DJed a few of them. He played mostly hip hop and R&B, with some older dance-pop music like Michael Jackson. I had talked with him at one of the dances, and wanted to know if he had any trance, techno or house music in his collection. He had one song, so he decided to play it. Lo and behold people stopped dancing! it was much faster than the rap and R&B he was playing, but people were just not interested. That baffled my mind, as R&B and hip hop are played in clubs, but they are not nearly as fast as most EDM. The only reason I could think of..why people weren't dancing...is because they didn't know how to dance to any other type of music!
To make a long story short...I was told I couldn't DJ a dance and play EDM because the administrators at the school didn't want "rave" influences...or drug use. But some songs that talked about sex, drugs..crime and used profanity were okay, but mostly instrumental music like trance wasn't....doesn't make sense.
