my thoughts on toquedish
what a night! lots of good things...some bad!
started off the night meeting up with about 30 friends for some madness on party bus...after doing that for a little bit headed into the club with relative ease after about a 5 min wait to get in. this is london is a comestically amazing venue. everything about it is top notch and it is easily one of the nicest...if not the THE nicest venue in the city! this place has potential to be one of the best party spots around! i particularily enjoy the must keep shirts on, no glowsticks, style code rule...it attracts a good looking crowd and keeps the skasian content extremely low....the only downfall about the crowd is that they were indeed pushy but with time, hopefully all the n00bs that were there can realy learn what the vibe at these types of parties should really be like...
as for the dish...i can definately say things didn't go as expected...there were alot of high hopes coming into this party after the labour of love debauchery...and the fact that it was advertised as an 8 hour set made it hard not to expect at least 2 hours of what is fittingly deemed "bojangled toon time." but was i ever off...sharam came out banging with one of the best opening's i have ever seen those 2 lay down...instantly i was like a kid in a candy store with an unlimited amount of money to spend....sharam was on the ball for the first couple hours of this set...he played alot of new tracks and i loved the techy/proggish/yetstillbangin' feel that he created....once ali hit the decks...i slowly became confused...the man who ussually drops to uncharted depths and pretty much scares the crap out of the crowd with his utterly dirty track selection actually slowed down the pace of the set and started a wine and cheese party in the booth(minus the wine.) sharam came back on and things didn't get much better...he went through his ussual "i love loops" hour in what i think was probably an attempt to get the crowd going bonkers but it didn't really work too well...he looked pretty botched at this point so i guess that may explain a few things...
and now for, by far one of the biggest let downs i have ever had in my entire clubbing life...ali hits the decks again and finally starts to get serious dropping two or three dirty dirty tracks in a row and than all of a sudden, lights on, party over....wtf!
to makes things worse...he chooses mylo - drop the pressure as his 1st encore...good tune and all...but welcome to 6 months ago. he somewhat made up for this with adam freelands mix of hello, i love you by the doors as encore number two.
deep dish only played for 5.5 hours out of a promised 8. this means they only delivered 69% of what they promised they would deliver. therefore toquedish you only recieve an overall performance rating of c+.

Decided to go to TIL at 10:30 after a fantastic dinner at Bymark.
Was worried we wouldn't get in because we didn't have guestlist and when I saw all the people outside I thought for sure we wouldn't get in. So we sat in the regular line up which moved really quickly and way faster that then the Guestlis line. We were in after about half hour.
What was with the coat check?!? It was a 'dead end' so as soon as you squeezed through all those people to get your jacket checked, you had to squeeze all the way back to get to the club. Not the smartest set up IMO.
And, what was with the bouncers on the stairs only allowing a few people down the starirs at a time... never seen that before but I guess it wasn't such a bad idea considering that place was rammed.
I've never been in a club that was so packed. You couldn't even move. It was pretty tough to dance. We were front and centre when Deep Dish came on and before we knew it, we had slowly drifted (actually pushed) to the far right, next to a large totem pole thing.
The music was great though. What a tease opening with like 10 sec of Say Hello. Lots of great music but too bad my feet were in pain! Since it wasn't a planned night, I was wearing stiletto boots from Aldo (one of the most uncomfortable pairs of shoes I have.) Had to sit down every 10 min or so - couldn't take it. Which was too bad, would have loved to stay for the end. Heard they didn't play the full 8 hours - that's a little disappointing.
So we left around 2:30 and despite all the minor complaints, it was a great night and glad I went.
TIL has the best decor. That was my second time there and I'll be sure to go back.
