this is one i make for myself
3 plums
1 can of lychee (drain the liquid if you buy the canned kind)
2 sliced apples
bottle of red (choice - cheapest, merlot may work)
dash of seltzer before serving

usually let it sit about a week (3days if you are in a rush)

Thanks!!! Maybe seltzer will do the trick. I made it thinking it would taste exactly how it did in Spain. What is lychee?

Vitality!

It's said to be rich in antioxidents.

I never get painful hangovers, just a comfortable cloudyness.

It's an asian fruit. Look for cans of them if you live in a city with a Chinatown. You might be hard pressed to find them at a regular supermarket.

Youre lucky youre free of hangovers...

My body is a bit weird too, if I get tipsy, I get a worse compared to the hangover I get because of getting badly drunk. I feel very dehyrated the next day though...

Lychee - usually has a pit inside, canned versions has the pit removed

http://www.crfg.org/pubs/ff/lychee.html

It has a real nice sweet/nectar kinda of taste, i think the syrup the canned versions come in is a bit to thick but does a good job in replicating the flavor.

A dash of seltzer before you serve will give it a piney/tingle to it. I'd also recommend highly carbonating your sangria, it adds a twist and is quite delicious. If you want to go more on the carbonated side, try putting about 4 cups of Sprite/Seltzer into the pitcher 30/min before you serve, it'll settle the carbonation a bit so it won't taste overly soda-like.

haha nope, I'll probably never see one of those around here. Our Chinatown is equivalent to a run down, overly stuffed China shop and about 3 Chinese restaurants across the street. They remind me of Crab Apples. Is the white the pit?

The white is the fruit. You have to peel them and remove the pit. They sell them on the streets in NYC's Chinatown all the time when they're in season. I didn't see many when I was there a few weeks ago, though. You can probably also buy them online in cans.

BTW, Lychee Martinis are pretty good and a fairly popular drink in New York. We were at some lounge Saturday and one of the house specials was a Hanoi Lychee Martini, which was vodka, lychee and pineapple juice. My girlfriend got one, but it was pretty weak and she said the regular ones with no pineapple were better.

I know that they sell them in Ithaca, which isn't that far from Rochester, because of the large asian population that goes to school there. Wegman's in Rochester might carry them, too.

That martini sounds interesting! The new craze here that has seemed to hit our neck of the rivers, woods, & cattle is finally a Pom Martini. Pomegranate
