Too many people walking down that slipperly slope of exaggeration. There are LOTS of laws that suck ass. BUT guess what? They are law so TOO FUCKING BAD!

aaaah but laws can always be changed back...

as may happen in markham...

The too fucking bad idea is for those who dont like the tastes and styles of other peoples yards etc.

Its funny that only lisa has commented on my cemetary story.

"whatever they want"...hell no.

I'm all for holding new laws up to some reasonable standard. This goes for *any* law.

Is *this* law good? I dunno...personally it seems to be a bit much. I don't believe in unlimited freedom though...because selfish, lazy and violent people *will* abuse that freedom and ruin it for the rest of us.

Most people here are educated and/or employed and have some sense of decency and consideration for others...there are a LOT of people out there who just don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

would anyone like to live somewhere for 5, 10, 20 years...make a home for themselves that's special to them...then be either forced to TRY to sell or put up with someone who buys next door and let's the place turn into a shithole with an overgrown lawn, trash piling up on the property, windows smashed, paint peeling, etc?

there's a middle ground between unreasonably restrictive laws and unlimited freedom to do as one pleases...finding it may be tough though, since you can't please everyone.

it again goes back to being able to do whatever you want, providing it doesn't harm anyone else or unduly prevent them from also doing what they want. fucking up your neighbours property value by paving over 75% of your property falls under this, IMHO.

(the cemetary story is good...I think that's a ridiculous that they are removing items)

Luckily, the rednecks and white trash don't have enough moeny to move into nice neighbourhoods and start fucking things up there. In the end, it kind of works out without any laws - people who have enough money to move themselves into nice neighbourhoods do so, and living in a nice neighbourhood and paying all that money for your house is an incentive to look after your property. People who don't give a shit end up in the ghetto, and there, a paved-oved driveway is not the primary concern.

Sux big time about the cemetary. If there are new owners, they should respect any previous agreements or make new rules only for new burials.

Sorry about your brother, Jay. One of my brothers also died shortly after birth.

I'm not talking about all these government regulations, I was commenting on the tree one alone. Making a statement about how we've lived for so long without, is pointless. Humans have surived for centuries without specific rules, are you implying that every bylaw and rule that has been drafted over time is pointless? Because when you reply with 'we've lived long enough without them' that could apply to ANY rule, at any time.

It's about as pointless as "it's our propery we should be able to do WHATEVER we want on it".

Not outlawed, but that goes without saying too.

No but most recent laws ARE pointless.

The law makes perfect sense. And is a good law if properly enforced, if you get a ticket and you dont like it, fight it....it is your right.

in old markham there are some houses that are a little over 1000sq.ft

Who the fuck buries coaxial cable 2 inches under the sod line?
