(regarding "emo hair" It came from the electroclash scene, which was emulating 80s "hairspray" styles.

Yeah this summer I found myself in a 'trendy' club in mexico city where i was surrounded by hundreds of electroclash heads. at first I thought i had mistakenly entered an emo club until i felt the rumble when i got out of the elevator

*shudders*

I agree, there is a pretty big scene coming from Russia. I can't wait! As for minimal, I think it will die just as fast as it began.

"Electro" is on the way out already. It's been a pretty quick turnover so far as trends go, but there's a lot of flux to the scene right now. The term will persist in marketing for a while, but as a popular front it's past its peak. Both emerging from it and taking its place is a broad range of deep, melodic tech-house from Germany, like Booka Shade and Âme. I agree with Ishkur that this will be stupidly labeled as "minimal". But I suspect that people will quickly tire of the name game and resort to calling it all house after not too long.

Hopefully it's not deep house, because that's the genre I'd like to escape into if I didn't like to listen to ANY commercial shit

I like the idea of music getting quieter and less obnoxious, but at the same time I miss 140 BPM crazyness soooo much.

I thought this thread would start sucking by now, but you guys have really kept it civil even into the 9th page, this is unusual for TA music discussion, keep it up!

If minimal is too big? What is just the right size at the moment and for the next few months? (or are you afriaid to say for fear of us making that too big as well? )
