I like the John Peel idea.

This year we ought to vote for someone who deserves the title of number 1 DJ, who has contributed to the world of music, someone who lived and breathed music, someone who promoted music before himself and someone who had no ego.

I say that this year we should all vote for John Peel may he rest in peace

well thats my vote then..its is all a load of bollox the way its done.

I'd say you guys should vote for a real dj from within the site and someone who would benefit from it and be able to make the most of the oppourtuntiy should they get a respectable position.

One person that comes to my mind is djx2, this guy churns out mixes like nobodies business. Always consistent and doesnt just stick to one style either.

I'm sure there are others also worthy of a mention aswell and it would be good to help someone who offers alot to the site rather than a fake dj which is pretty stupid.

Also mikey mike, did you get any gigs or were you able to use your ranking in any way even though it was just a scam?

Lets vote for "DJ DAG"(half of "Dance 2 trance", the first pioneering trance project), the man who INVENTED TRANCE in the end of 80s/beginning of 90s LOL. i don't know if he is still on life.(you know with all this XTC/LSD and stuff...)

This year i've also attented "Dj B-Ass Lord" and "DJ Jesus" , they have played amazing "kick-ass" and "heavenly" sets respectively!

Armin's going to win since we can't agree on anything. Everyone's just throwing out names without thinking about what's going to work and what's not. I'm not even convinced my idea would work so I should just keep my mouth shut. The number of votes separating 1st place from 12th place is probably insurmountable just by getting a few hundred/thousand tranceaddicts to all vote the same. The same DJs will be at the top forever always introducing 90% of the new material into the trance scene:

DJ Magazine Top 5 DJs Of 2005
1 Paul Van Dyk
2 Tiesto
3 Armin Van Buuren
4 Sasha
5 Ferry Corsten

DJ Magazine Top 5 DJs Of 2004
1 Tiesto
2 Paul Van Dyk
3 Armin Van Buuren
4 Sasha
5 Ferry Corsten

DJ Magazine Top 5 DJs Of 2003
1 Tiesto
2 Paul Van Dyk
3 Armin Van Buuren
4 Sasha
5 John Digweed

DJ Magazine Top 5 DJs Of 2002
1 Tiesto
2 Sasha
3 John Digweed
4 Paul Van Dyk
5 Armin Van Buuren

I think that right there is what is killing trance music. The 90s were a time of rapid change and new DJs with new sounds, while the 2000s are stalemated and boring. When dance music used to be known for it's rapid progress and futuristic vision, today people would rather stick with what's established and true. As long as Tiesto/Armin/PVD/Sasha/Corsten are at the top, I don't expect to see any great growth in trance music like we saw in the past. That is why I want to see some change in this Top 100 list, but maybe it's just me

you guys are a bunch of trance drama queens for gods sake. what do you mean by grow? you dont think trance has changed for the better from 2000-2006? I'm one of the few on this board that think trance has gotten so much better since the infamous 99 year. i think trance absolutely sucked balls in 99 and 2000. it was so repetitive and boring. back then it was sasha/digweed and the progressive house movement that ruled the school. that was the music that was progressing and it was not even a question which was better, prog house or trance.

it was late 2001 early 2002 when i noticed trance records coming out that were just really great. from then on trance has slowly incorporated more house elements: trance is getting groovier, easier to dance to, dont have to be a crackhead to enjoy, no longer the simple doof doof music, the underlying beat is getting better and more complex.

the only way some change will happen in the top spots in the list is if something radically different, new and innovative comes along, just as it did back in 2000 with prog house. trance has stayed in the top spots 2002-2006 because trance has been changing and innovative and fresh during these years and its kept trance interesting.

Why are you bothering doing this? Chris Moyles (fat, loudmouthed, massively unfunny mainstream UK breakfast radio show jock) did this last year by urging the hordes of morons who listen to his garbage every day to vote for him. It worked (he made number 192). So what, it proved nothing & with his sizeable audience he must have more influence on vote rigging than this site.
