Ok Here I Goooooooooooooo...
The opening DJ (Malick I believe) played a track that is in Lawler's Southwest 4 Festival (London) set...I didn't like the fact that he played a track that Lawler is currently playing, just my 2 cents.
Steve came on at 11:45pm-ish (like, at least 30 mins b4 he should have come on at), and TOTALLY blew everyone's heads off. He opened with "Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, etc"...which is an intro he produced with his own voice, quite cool...it's used on his Viva album, CD 1, track 1. Mesmerizing...God I love him.
He played a bunch of new stuff and carried along some of his classics...I have a very partial tracklisting at home (not with me right now ), I ID'd about 10 tracks, and after seeing the reviews, well, there's no point in me re-naming them all, now is there? I went absolutely insane for every track that was mentioned thus far, not to mention that I was CONSCIOUSLY aware of many of the tracks he played...Normally I'm like, "Oh shit, this is awesome!" And I never get a track's title, but, seeing as it was LAWLER, I did know some of the tracks he was throwing down...Shows he's my favourite
There was sooooooooooooooo many people, unbelievable...More packed than Digweed and Fontaine. I enjoyed this Tribe set more than I did his Myst set...It sounded like he was playing for a big-room event, I swear, he was ALMOST as hard and dark as he was at SunDance in July. He's soooooooooooo amazing.
Got to meet him again, and HE REMEMBERED ME!!! Yeeeeessssss!!! I didn't really move from the front/side of the DJ booth the entire night, but, at 1 or 2 points, I got really excited and had to go downstairs to calm down ...Seriously. I wanted to have a smoke, but the situation at the door was CRAZY to get out and come back in. So, I went for a smoke downstairs in the bathroom hehe, where a bouncer was kind enough to light it for me LOL...Good job! Anyways, back to Steve...
So I got my picture with him, hell yes! And I gave him a BIG kiss! I brought the Viva album for him to sign, upon which he wrote, and I quote, "You are amazing, Thank you, Steve Lawler..." AAAANNNNNNDDDDDD when he gave it back to me, signed, he pointed at what he had written and said, "I really mean this..." WOUUUUUUUUUUUUUU He looooooovvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeeesssssssss me!!!
Ahem, sorry
He played til around 3:30am-ish and he did NOT wanna stop, it showed in his face...Classic moment: Steve was offered a bottle of vodka, he crouched down so noone could see him and chugged close to a quarter of it. That's my man.
He proceeded by giving me 3 more autographed flyers, and when I politely refused the 2nd and 3rd, he said to me, "You of all people should have these!" /Meltdown. Pure and simple.
I will post pictures when I figure out how. I look kinda funny in the one of him and I...I was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too happy the entire night.
Sooooooooooooooo...Is he married, kids, girlfriend?
  Kidding!
He's absolutely brilliant, he shines soooooooooooooo brightly behind the decks and if Tribe management gives him a monthly spot, I WILL DIE of sheer and utter happiness. My favourite DJ? Monthly residency? WHAT?!?!?
Oh and pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee BRING HIM BACK TO STEREO PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! He told me himself he loved that place and would love to go back.
Erika <3's Steve.
END.
Hope to see some peeps at Mansion tonight, peace
