Oh yes you can. Those beatcounters are maybe accurate like...75% of the time. I used to think that trainwrecking was impossible on them...(I have the MKII's...but they work the same)....and then I noticed off songs where for some reason the beatcounters would go either crazy, or just be flat out wrong.

so I put black electrical tape on mine and retrained my ear

Just my two cents on the Armin vs Tiesto thing that was going on a few pages back. Don't really hate either of them, they both play good tunes on their day, in fact they're much like Man Utd - when they're on form they'll bang in about 8 past the goalie, but on the bad days, they'll get 5 from Chelsea at Old Trafford!

Point being, they're both great, legendary DJs, and history will note their contribution to music in a very favourable light. Of course, they have their quirks, like both have the tendency to make a few "Shivers" or "Love Comes Again", but hey, shit happens, no one has a 100% strike rate.

Thing that I like about Armin happened at ASOT 250, when he let Menno play the closing set instead of himself, that really spoke volumes for me in terms of him as a person, that was cool. My issue with Tiesto is that he's a bit of a cocky twat, but that's a different story!
