You have got to be kidding me. By far the most out-of-whack poll I have seen yet of our music scene yet. All I can say is keep supporting the DJs you like by going out to their gigs and buying their music. Honestly if DJ Mag wants to continue this ridiculous MTV-like poll then fine so be it but I think anyone who knows their music knows that poll has lost any credibility steadily over the last few years. Its become clear that they favor certain DJs and we will never know how much they tip the votes in favor of certain DJs. I really find it hard to believe PVD beat out Armin this year for the #1 spot. I like his stuff but c'mon he hasn't done near what Armin has done over the last couple of years. But oh wait that's right...isn't he a regular columnist for DJ Mag? Seeing Tiesto drop to #3 is no suprise after the fallout he had with DJ Mag some time ago.
At any rate it was good to see some fresh new talent like Sander Van D. come in high on the chart - well deserved. And seriosly...DJ Dan at #5??? I find that extremely hard to believe...I can't possibly see him getting more votes than Ferry, Deep Dish, Carl Cox, Sander K. or any of the other big names on there. Oh wait haven't I seen him do an article or two in DJ Mag....?

Just got back from Fabric & can confirm that is the correct list. Good night, rammed to the rafters though.... (far too many vandit t-shirts for my liking )

Isnt it kind of funny that before the poll, alot of people go around saying how they dislike it and they will never vote and how this is bunch of BS. But, when it is time for the results the same people cant stop posting in all sorts of forums and raise their voice as to why their fav. dj didnt make the cut and are first to point fingers at djs who did make it and the fans who voted for those djs lolz. |
Nail on the head there. End of the day its an open vote for peoples favourite dj, by no means is it a poll about skill & technical level. People who think one dj doesnt deserve it will get another person somewhere else saying the opposite. One mans noise, another mans music etc.
With regards to 'spamming' or allegations of vote rigging, i mean ill be honest i dont blame anyone. They would do just what anyone else would do in a similar situation.
People seem to forget its just like a General Election for voting for Government in your country, every candidate/party will make sure you know about their policies etc, DJ Mag runs along the same lines.
However a lot of you would be suprised how many promoters across the world will book djs soley on DJ Mag placings for the annual awards. A top 50 place can double a DJ's international bookings for the year. I guess a DJ's livelihood depends on the bookings, therefore a good DJ Mag rank in the poll will help matters no end!
