Yeah that's just bad cheese. Some of his other stuff IMO is good cheese, it's not quite as cringe worthy as some of the other stuff out there. It's tolerable, sometimes his stuff is even quite beautiful. "Circular Symmetry" and "Eternal Swells" on his last album are excellent, not cheesy at all. His more chilled out, instrumental stuff is quite good IMO.
