Depeche Mode IS Indie and Trentemoller often plays Minimal/Electro, Ferry Corsten added Electro sound to Trance last year. You missed 2006?

Depeche Mode released most of their albums on sub-labels of Warner Bros. Warner Bros. is not indie.

And no, I didn't miss all the people mislabelling stuff as "electro" and "minimal" because they had no clue about the origin and history of the terms. That's 2006 for you.

Electro was Electro because of the synths, I know. But Electro is developing and Electro is by definition what the people think is "Electro" and not what it was historically...

I do appear to be fighting a losing battle, yes.

But perhaps in five years most of the "electro-tinged" stuff of the past couple years will have been forgotten and the term will revert back to something like its historical meaning.

First of all Electro House sucks big time, uninspired simple bleep house.

House like Jaimie Lewis, Copyright and Grant Nelson, that is real house.

Ket in a club would just ruin the whole night. I don't even touch e's these days as come downs do my nut in. All I have is the odd gram of charlie here and there it's a complete t*at of a drug to take in clubs sometimes.

On the thread subject enjoy the diverse selection of music you have at your hands, it could be a lot worse.

Thatīs exactly what I was talking about a while back in another thread. People seem to think their opinions are more valid than indisputable historical facts. Itīs sad, really.

Ehmmm i don't think that the label has anything to do with that...I guess you can call Depeche Mode "Indie" in a much broader sense, where "indie" is any rock and pop that is not mainstream and is kind of more alternative. In this sense of course a huge amount of genres can be labelled as "indie". To be more precise though, depeche mode were always a new-wave/synth-pop group with a dark-wave/gothy sound at times in albums such as "black celebration" and "violator" (or the later one for that matter). Great band by the way. "Violator" and "Music For The Masses" are beuatifull synth-driven dark melodic gems. Classics by all means.

OH GOD YES! Enough with this ELECTRO GARBAGE!ANd FFS this bloody "electro" has nothing to do with the 80s electro. All this "electro", "clicky" whatever trash have these disturbing sounds in them (was ever a tune in the EDM history worst then "put your hands up for detroit"? PURE STUPIDITY...)i wander how can anyone listen to them...It is not just trance...its the whole EDM that goes down and down...year by year the quality fades fast...

Perhaps you missed the quote I was responding to:

"Like I said, I'd love to post about trance. But there just isn't much to talk about."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this sound like "since there's no new 'good' trance coming out there's nothing to talk about?"

It's almost like trance itself is being penalized because the new material may not be exactly up to par.

Well if you're so interested in discussing trance from the past, I've heard the search function is a useful tool to locate a topic which has probably already been discussed ad nauseum in at least 5 threads in here.

If there are less and less topics on new trance releases, then yes, it is being penalized for a lack of quality.

Well some of us are finding good new music. I suggest going a little farther than the beatport top 20 charts.
