Who fucking cares how you're perceived?? I think that's exactly what too many people worry about. It's contrived and phony, and you end up with a group of people never saying exactly what they mean...and the underlying tension leads to arguments and bullshit drama.
People are going to perceive you whatever way they want, regardless of what you "present" them with.

I think you missed what I was saying.
What I was trying to say is that you should present youself online as you are offline (and NOT be surprised if you decide not to and people don't respond to you well).

You also have to understand that being candid can sometimes make people uncomfortable, and therefore can be perceived as being rude. I'm not one for beating around the bush in real life or online.

....and what's often the case is that due to the nature of many people's posts on this board...people are led to believe that said individual is actually a very different person than they truely are.

Ah, my bad. I guess it's just the notion of trying so hard one way or the other to present a certain image of oneself that set me off.
I think people just need to be accountable for the things they say and do, period. Then they won't even have to think about whether or not it "matches up" with who they are...they'll just BE who they are.
