Hmm... Buffalo. Well, I spun at Blue Mirage for a couple months and it was pretty awful. I started off playing everything; House, Trance, Progressive, Electro, Tech-Trance. The first couple weeks it was awesome. Had a good number of people in there. Then for some reason the place started advertising on WBLK and reserving parties for people who hated EDM. Well, then they told me to play hip hop and only mainstream remixes. Did that for a few months and then the place went downhill from there. Fuckin sucks.

Just from those few months I noticed there is a demand for a good place with quality EDM. I hitup Prespa's on Friday's but I haven't been impressed yet. The sax just doesn't do it for me. Plus, it's all fuckin dudes. Sorry, but I need some women to look at if the music's not insane. Just read that Prespa's good on Sat so maybe I'll check it out.

Still haven't found what I'm lookin for though... Quality music and a good crowd. Maybe I just don't know where to go?

Thats just the thing there is no place besides Prespa and OPM. I remember when Blu had good music and you are right now its all Hip Hop. From what They just Got new owners and Asked a friend of mine to spin there. He is amazing a lot of people don't get to hear him because he spins at marcellas on Friday Nights and that place is not for everyone.

there are definitly more places to go then opm and prespa. smack thrusdays normally holds a good night. then there is elmwood lounge which also has a electronic night on thrusdays. and i also know that off the wall does nights on saturday(collective consciousness will be doing a night 2 times a month in the future starting may 5th).

and from a dj's perspective. i know the above mentioned are looking for fresh talent. even brian from opm has put out notice he is looking for new talent in the buffalo area. so jessdub, make a cd and get it to the right people. there are plenty opportunities out there. ive been spinning a mere two years and was able to find a spot to play my dirty hard driving electro house(and buffalo is suppose to be a drum and bass only kind of city

Yep so true. I'm workin on a cd right now. More importantly though, I'm gonna start gettin out there more and meetin people that are into the music. Right now I hang out with my non-EDM friends at Soho on Sat nights which is gettin so old. I'm sure I'll end up meetin most on this board if we all go out.

what genre of music do you play? are you going out friday night? if so stop at opm and get your disk to me or todd. he runs most of the nights in buffalo and knows the rest of the people as well.

I hadn't even heard of most of these venues and I've been going downtown for the last 2 years now. Unfortunatly when I do, my friends are all loyal to Level because 75% of my friends work for UB student association and that's kinda like their venue for shit. I always, always, always told them to do an EDM show for their DJ series but they kept getting crappy hip-hop guys from the city. Office politics mostly as some former employees are now hip-hop promoters.

Any way, the point was, even with all these venues the vibe is still pretty garbage. What we should do is pick a good venue and day of the week/bi-weekly to turn into the place where TA's can meet up and suggest to our friends. Hopefully we can start to bring in enough of a good vibe to get other good people interested in partying proper.

Couple questions...

How much is OPM and is there a potential guestlist I can get on?

This'll be my first time partying in Buffalo. I've done the college thing here but never the EDM scene here. Tomorrow will be interesting for sure. Can't wait to meet some of you guys!
