My comment never said/implied that EDM inclusion was new - just that this thread did not display any real positive appreciation for it's presence amongst the rest.

Ok well, the way you wrote it, it seemed like it had some novelty factor, that we should admire, like it doesnt happen often in the US, but I think it really does.

And I think you'd find the appreciation would go up if someone like Laurent Garnier, and not Tiesto, was representing EDM on the main stage.

Feel free to list other big festivals that happen in the US that have a similar variety of music.

Well then it turns into "list other festivals as huge as coachella" which there arent many of.

And I'll be honest and say I cant think of any off hand right now, other than Sasha & Digweed playing Bonaroo, and a few other big shows, but none with the variety of Coachella.

Which is why my original comment was

"people should be happy that EDM is represented at a party of this scale in the USA"

That's all.

I think Laurent Garnier would be aggravated that he was even mentioned in the same sentence as tiesto even though it was a compliment hahahaha

I just don't see the point in booking completely different acts playing back to back with each other - the sounds are going to clash and just as you're about to get into the sound you actually like it changes. If you had different sounds/acts in different rooms/areas I would understand but this all just seems very random to me.

Edit:
For the most part it is that way but some of the stage selections seem quite puzzling to me.

actually i thought i would get this out.

I, for one, enjoy edm just the way it is, imagine if all of a suden edm was all over the mainstream. The way it is is just fine, it makes our love for the music, i guess, to be more pure.
