hmm I get nice enough results by taking a gabba kick, reversing it, and then cutting off the last bit (the part that doesn't sound like a bassline )

Hmmm, ill have a go when io get home. Does that produce a "melodic" bass(i mean does it have a note)?

Iv bin experimenting taking sounds which do not have a note assigned to them or whatever and trying to give them tonal qualities by putting them through filters and equalisers but its a fookin pain n takes a lot of maths to work which frequencys u should be increasing in volume and which you should be decreasing. Has nebody else had ne luck doing this?

I wana be able to play a melody using metalic sounds like that of mauro p - iguana, the problem is getting a descent sample of a metallic hit with the apporpriate tonal qualities. Answers on a postcard!

of course whether it has a note or not depends entirely on the original gabba kick you use, but usually yes, it does have a note. However it is advisable to keep it at that note, because if you transpose it around, the length (and thus shape of the decay of frequencies) also changes....tough to explain hmmm

Naah, i know exactly what you mean, have you tried time stretching it rather than pitch shifting it. It can get destorted but at least you keep the attack and decay properties. Still, i need a melodic metal hit, ne suggestions?

I guess you could time stretch it if you know what notes you're gonna use.

metal sounds....try frequency modulation (FM synthesis)

now it's time to get things done, what I want is to make a Tranceaddict Reason Refill for Version 1.0 and above with the following kind of sounds:

- a typical SHOKK LEAD ( provided by me )
- a good trance lead once made by Cyrus 2K
- some typical Scott Project Bassdrums and Bassline singly synths
( hoping for Pjotr G and Tom_cowan )
- some basic often requested acid sound ( provided by me )
- a subtractor Rank 1 Pad ( provided by me )
- some Virus samples ( hoping for Joi Lamusic )
- some JP8000 samples ( hoping for Vizay )
- some other gread leads ( perhaps from Robstar, Lightworks,
Robert...?)

If someone just needs the samples ( Fruity Users ) I am sure we can find a solution too.
Together we can make a great refill with some awesome sounds for everyone...

A Did a reading of this thread; and I think it's great for all these aspiring producers: Including me!

NE Wayz, I'm an amateur producer using Fruity Loops (OF COURSE! ANOTHER ONE!) and I was wondering how you do hard pounding kicks, rather than sampling. That's right, with the regular kick that comes with the program, how do you acheive the sounds of a hard trance producer such as 'Warmduscher', or 'Scott Project', or even 'S.h.o.k.k.', and 'Flutlicht'. I'm just curious, cuz I wouldn't mind making my own hard trance songs. Been producin for 5 months, and I've been havin a blast. NE Wayz, I wanna see this thread alive!!! Please answer! To all those GREAT Trance producers on Trance Addict who helped me in that past. Thanks. -Mental

well, getting a hard punching kickdrum is quit simple.
first of all you need some material to start with. i always start with a simple 909 kick. you can use a sample or some kind of drumsynth (like the one that comes with fruity 3.55 or waldorf attack) to generate those sound easily.
ok, now put some effects onto that channel. use the fruity compressor and the distortion plugin and play with those settings. that's it!
