this thread is depressing.

5 years ago, i got my girlfriend of 4 years pregnant. we wanted to abort but her parents were against it. we had to give him away to be adopted. it was the hardest fucking thing i had ever done. it was the worse feeling i have ever felt till this day. sad to say our relationship crashed and burned a few months after that.

teh sucks.

but life goes on and you have to live with it.

yea that totally makes sense. her parents were against aborting it, but it's ok to just give the child away once it's born and not follow through with the responsibility of raising it. fucking morons.

sorry u had to go through that, but i will never understand how someone can go through with carrying a child for 9 months and giving birth to it only to give it away.

i hate saying this but, touche'

my bad.

i'm a pesimist about adoption. usually the kids end up being bounced around to different foster homes, yada yada yada...

At birth adoptions are a little different. Basically, its all the parents that cant have children of their own (my mom had a hysterectomy at age 20). They REALLY REALLY want a child, and arent going to give it up.

This is true. There are tons of people waiting in line to adopt a newborn baby. There is no bouncing from home to home, those babies go right to their adoptive parents and don't know any different.

Sly, the kids you are thinking of are the ones where the parents kept them but were unable to properly raise them due to poverty, mental issues, violence in the home, neglect, etc. These are the kids who have it rough, usually they are age 3 or older, and have been left with behavioral and developmental problems because of their parents. Nobody wants to adopt them, so they get bounced around the foster care system until they are 18. And some foster parents are caring people who want to help kids out but a lot of them just look at those kids as a paycheck.

I have mad respect for a woman who will go through 9 months of pregnancy and then labor, and then make the mature and selfless decision to let someone else raise that child so it will have a better life.

i suppose. i see your point xanax.

anyway, my original point was that i found it ironic that her parents were so against abortion (in other words, they feel you should live up to the responsibility of creating a life), yet they let her give the baby away once he/she was born.

didnt read the whole thread..

but if my fiancè caught preggers, i waould tell her to abort.. and i would expect her to do so with out causing a big flap about it.

i DO want kids with her.. but i dont want kids until i want kids, if one comes along when i dont want it, ill resent it.

so until i say i want a kid.. zoe stop taking yuor pill.. i dont want one.. not until we are married anyways, after next year

[sorry if that makes me sound like a selfish c*nt]

My guess is that the root of the reason they were against the abortion is morality (they think its murdering a child) rather than it being a case of shirking responsibility for the child.
