You have to feed off the crowd. Let them take lead the direction of your music. If the crowd wants you to go one way and you go another, you are not going to have fun either way. It's a lose lose situation. What fun is it to play what you like if the crowd is sitting there not enjoying it? But as a professional he should be going off the crowd.

I totally agree. Like you said that you have to go with the crowd. But to a point. Depends on what you can afford to do. If its about being popular and gaining rank, then you do what the crowd wants, regardless. I'm sure you can find similar tastes in what the crowd like as well as what you like. I wouldn't want to play anything where I'm like "man, I hate this sh**" even though its a famous track or whatever.
