However, it shows a real lack of empathy that people cannot grasp that someone might find it offensive and deragotry to learn that he is being referred to as "ghetto dude" internally by potential employers. The point is it doesn't matter if you find it derogatory, but whether the person it was directed to found it derogatory or offensive. And lets be honest, calling someone ghetto is not some random word without any meaning or conotation. If it has no meaning or connotatio to you, that's fine, it's simply a matter of perception. But it has meaning to someone else. |
yeah the reason why this story is so big is because it came from the government...
my friend told me that when you apply for government jobs, on the application they have boxes to check such as ethnic minority, homosexual, etc. which gives you a better chance of getting hired
same thing with law school, if you are gay, or a minority, you have a better chance of getting in....
I believe in giving someone a better chance if say they come from a low income family..... say some really rich minority goes to private school, goes to a good university.... why should he have a better chance of getting a job than anyone else?
sorta like my friend in high school, she was half black, she was rich, but got a $3500 african canadian scholarship..... like give someone a scholarship if they need the money, no just because of the color of their skin.... because that is racist!
