Regardless of whether this will be a good thing for Canada or not, I am disgusted by the total lack of media coverage of such a monumental change. But 'tis hardly surprising.

Further, IMO, I find that a government policy of creating ever stronger ties to a nation, the US, that increasingly finds itself in a bad light on the world stage just can't reflect on Canada all that well. Economically, we are allready fully dependant on the USA. As other nations rise up to the competition, I can't see this being a sound plan for the future. Canada has enough resources and talent to make itself a shining beacon to world trade, yet we consistently take the path of least resistance, and flock to our southern 'brethren'.

If you can find an economically viable plan to sell Canadian products as cheaply and efficiently to other nations as Canada does to US, I'd love to hear about it.
